About the product

Antopral 40 Mg 14 Tablets

Description:

Antopral 40 mg 14 tablets is a prescription proton pump inhibitor (PPI) medicine used to reduce excessive stomach acid. Each gastro‑resistant tablet contains 40 mg of omeprazole, providing effective and long‑lasting relief from acid reflux, heartburn, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), peptic (stomach and duodenal) ulcers, and other acid‑related gastrointestinal disorders. By blocking the acid‑producing proton pumps in the stomach, Antopral 40 mg helps relieve burning pain, acid regurgitation, and discomfort, while promoting healing of the esophagus and stomach lining. This pack of 14 tablets is typically used as a short treatment course or as part of a longer regimen as directed by a healthcare professional. Suitable for adults and usually for short‑term use unless otherwise prescribed.

Indications:

  • Treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), including symptoms such as persistent heartburn, acid regurgitation, and sour taste in the mouth.
  • Healing and maintenance treatment of erosive esophagitis caused by chronic acid reflux.
  • Treatment of gastric and duodenal (peptic) ulcers.
  • Prevention and treatment of stomach and duodenal ulcers associated with nonsteroidal anti‑inflammatory drug (NSAID) use in at‑risk patients.
  • Long‑term management of conditions with pathological hypersecretion of gastric acid such as Zollinger–Ellison syndrome.
  • Relief of upper abdominal pain and discomfort related to excess stomach acid, as assessed and diagnosed by a physician.

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Omeprazole – 40 mg per tablet (proton pump inhibitor that reduces gastric acid secretion).
  • Excipients (inactive ingredients) – may include tablet fillers, binders, coating agents, and stabilizers. Exact excipient list and concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website; please refer to the official package leaflet for full composition.

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Usual adult dose for GERD and heartburn: 40 mg (one tablet) once daily, preferably taken at the same time each day, as directed by your doctor.
  • Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet, as it is gastro‑resistant and designed to release the active ingredient in the intestine.
  • Antopral 40 mg may be taken with or without food; however, many clinicians recommend taking it before a meal (often before breakfast) for optimal acid suppression.
  • Typical short‑term course: 14 days for symptomatic relief of heartburn and acid reflux, or as prescribed. Some conditions (such as ulcers or erosive esophagitis) may require 4–8 weeks or longer of therapy under medical supervision.
  • For prevention of NSAID‑induced ulcers: dose and duration are determined by the physician based on ongoing NSAID use and individual risk factors.
  • For Zollinger–Ellison syndrome and other hypersecretory conditions: dosing is individualized and may be higher or more frequent; follow specialist guidance strictly.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed tablet.
  • Do not change the dose, extend treatment, or stop therapy abruptly without consulting your doctor, especially in long‑term use.
  • Take other oral medicines at least 1 hour before or 4 hours after Antopral 40 mg if advised by your doctor or pharmacist, to minimize interaction or absorption issues.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Effectively reduces gastric acid secretion, providing sustained relief from heartburn and acid reflux symptoms.
  • Promotes healing of erosive esophagitis and peptic ulcers by allowing the esophageal and gastric mucosa to recover in a low‑acid environment.
  • Helps prevent recurrence of ulcers and esophageal damage in patients requiring long‑term NSAID therapy or with chronic acid‑related disorders.
  • Improves quality of life by reducing nighttime reflux, chest burning, sour regurgitation, and upper abdominal pain associated with excess stomach acid.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to omeprazole, other proton pump inhibitors, or any component of the formulation.
  • Seek urgent medical evaluation if you experience alarm symptoms such as unintentional weight loss, persistent vomiting, difficulty swallowing, vomiting blood, black/tarry stools, severe abdominal pain, or chest pain that may mimic heart conditions.
  • Long‑term use of PPIs has been associated with increased risk of vitamin B12 deficiency, low magnesium levels, bone fractures (especially in older adults), and certain infections (e.g., Clostridioides difficile–associated diarrhea). Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration necessary.
  • Use with caution in patients with severe liver impairment; dose adjustment or closer monitoring may be required.
  • Omeprazole may interact with other medicines (e.g., warfarin, phenytoin, diazepam, digoxin, clopidogrel, some antifungals, certain antivirals). Inform your doctor and pharmacist about all prescription, over‑the‑counter, and herbal products you are taking.
  • Consult your doctor before use if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Use only if clearly needed and prescribed by a healthcare professional.
  • Do not use this product to self‑treat chest pain or symptoms that could be related to heart disease without medical evaluation.
  • Not intended for use in children unless specifically prescribed by a pediatric specialist.
  • Consult your doctor before use if you have liver disease, kidney disease, osteoporosis, electrolyte disturbances (such as low magnesium), or a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or malignancy.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • This product is a prescription medicine; do not share it with others even if they have similar symptoms.

Side Effects:
  • Common side effects may include headache, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, flatulence, and dizziness.
  • Less common side effects can include rash, itching, fatigue, dry mouth, and changes in taste.
  • Serious but rare side effects may include severe allergic reactions (swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat; difficulty breathing), severe skin reactions, jaundice or signs of liver problems, severe diarrhea with abdominal cramps (possible C. difficile infection), muscle cramps or irregular heartbeat due to low magnesium, and mood or neurological changes.
  • Stop taking Antopral 40 mg and seek immediate medical attention if you experience signs of a severe allergic reaction, severe skin rash, yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, severe or persistent diarrhea, chest pain, or irregular heartbeat.
  • If any side effect worsens or you notice any other unusual symptoms, contact your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
