About the product

Carvid 6.25Mg 30 Tab

Description:

Carvid 6.25mg 30 tab is a prescription cardiovascular medicine containing carvedilol, a non-selective beta blocker with additional alpha-1 adrenergic blocking activity. It is used for the management of high blood pressure, chronic heart failure, and stable angina pectoris. By reducing heart rate, myocardial oxygen demand, and peripheral vascular resistance, Carvid helps control blood pressure, improve heart function, and reduce cardiovascular symptoms and complications when used under medical supervision.

Indications:

  • Treatment of essential hypertension (high blood pressure) in adults, as monotherapy or in combination with other antihypertensive agents.
  • Management of chronic stable congestive heart failure (CHF), in addition to standard therapy such as diuretics, ACE inhibitors, and/or digitalis, as prescribed by a cardiologist.
  • Treatment of stable angina pectoris to reduce the frequency and severity of anginal attacks and improve exercise tolerance.
  • Reduction of cardiovascular risk and protection of the heart by improving ventricular function in selected patients, as directed by the physician.

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Carvedilol – 6.25 mg per tablet.
  • Excipients (inactive ingredients) – exact composition and concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website; refer to the package insert for full excipient list.

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Carvid 6.25mg 30 tab must be used exactly as prescribed by your doctor; do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice.
  • Hypertension (adults): A common starting dose of carvedilol is 6.25 mg twice daily, which may be increased gradually at intervals of at least 1–2 weeks based on blood pressure response and tolerability. The exact regimen should be determined by the physician.
  • Chronic heart failure: Treatment is usually initiated at a very low dose (often 3.125 mg twice daily) and titrated slowly. Carvid 6.25 mg may be used as a titration or maintenance dose according to the cardiologist’s instructions.
  • Stable angina pectoris: Dose and frequency are individualized; Carvid may be given twice daily and adjusted according to clinical response.
  • Tablets are usually taken with food to reduce the risk of orthostatic hypotension (sudden drop in blood pressure when standing).
  • Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; do not crush or chew unless your doctor or pharmacist specifically advises otherwise.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for the next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
  • Regular monitoring of blood pressure, heart rate, and in heart failure patients, clinical status and sometimes ECG, is recommended during treatment and dose adjustments.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Helps lower elevated blood pressure, thereby reducing the risk of stroke, heart attack, and other cardiovascular complications.
  • Improves ventricular function and symptoms in patients with chronic congestive heart failure, contributing to reduced morbidity and mortality when used as part of standard therapy.
  • Reduces heart rate and myocardial oxygen demand, helping to prevent or lessen episodes of stable angina pectoris and improve exercise tolerance.
  • Provides combined beta-1, beta-2, and alpha-1 adrenergic blockade, leading to vasodilation, decreased peripheral vascular resistance, and prevention of reflex tachycardia.
  • Has additional pharmacological actions such as calcium entry blockade, antioxidant, antiproliferative, and membrane-stabilizing effects, which may contribute to cardioprotective benefits.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to carvedilol or any component of the formulation.
  • Contraindicated in severe bradycardia, second- or third-degree atrioventricular (AV) block (unless a pacemaker is in place), sick sinus syndrome, or cardiogenic shock.
  • Contraindicated in decompensated heart failure requiring intravenous inotropic therapy, unless specifically initiated and monitored by a specialist.
  • Use with caution in patients with bronchial asthma or severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), peripheral vascular disease, Raynaud’s phenomenon, diabetes mellitus, or thyroid disorders, as beta blockers can mask symptoms such as hypoglycemia or hyperthyroidism.
  • May cause dizziness, fatigue, or hypotension; caution is advised when driving, operating machinery, or performing tasks requiring alertness until you know how the medicine affects you.
  • Sudden discontinuation of carvedilol may worsen angina, precipitate myocardial infarction, or exacerbate heart failure; taper the dose gradually under medical supervision.
  • Consult your doctor before use if pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Use only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus or infant.
  • Inform your doctor about all other medicines you are taking, especially other antihypertensives, antiarrhythmics, calcium channel blockers (e.g., verapamil, diltiazem), digoxin, insulin or oral antidiabetics, and drugs affecting liver enzymes, due to potential interactions.
  • Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without proper medical supervision.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects:
  • Common side effects may include dizziness, fatigue, headache, bradycardia (slow heart rate), hypotension (low blood pressure), postural dizziness, cold extremities, gastrointestinal discomfort (nausea, diarrhea), and weight gain or fluid retention in heart failure patients.
  • Less common side effects can include sleep disturbances, depression, visual disturbances, shortness of breath, or worsening of peripheral vascular symptoms.
  • Serious side effects may include severe bradycardia, severe hypotension, worsening heart failure, bronchospasm (especially in asthmatic patients), or allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing). Seek immediate medical attention if these occur.
  • If you experience unusual symptoms, marked slowing of the pulse, fainting, severe dizziness, or sudden weight gain and swelling of legs or ankles, contact your doctor promptly.
