About the product

Nitromack Retard 5 Mg 30 Capsules

Description:

Nitromack Retard 5 mg is an oral prescription medication in modified-release capsule form containing nitroglycerin, an organic nitrate vasodilator. It is primarily used for the long-term prevention of angina pectoris (chest pain) due to coronary artery disease by improving blood flow to the heart muscle and reducing its workload. As a sustained-release formulation, Nitromack Retard provides prolonged therapeutic levels of nitroglycerin to help maintain stable angina control throughout the dosing interval. This product is intended for adult patients under medical supervision and is not for the immediate relief of acute angina attacks.

Indications:

  • Prevention and long-term management of chronic stable angina pectoris.
  • Reduction in frequency, severity, and duration of angina attacks associated with coronary artery disease.
  • Adjunctive therapy in patients with ischemic heart disease where nitrate prophylaxis is indicated, as directed by a cardiologist or physician.
  • May be used as part of a comprehensive cardiovascular treatment plan including lifestyle modification and other cardiac medications, as prescribed.

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Nitroglycerin (Glyceryl trinitrate) – 5 mg per modified-release capsule.
  • Other inactive ingredients (excipients, capsule shell components, release-modifying agents) are present but specific names and concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website. Refer to the official package insert for the full excipient list.

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Use only as prescribed by your doctor. Typical adult dosing for prophylaxis of angina is determined individually based on clinical response.
  • Capsules are usually taken orally once or twice daily, or as directed by your physician, to provide sustained nitrate exposure while allowing a nitrate-free interval to reduce tolerance. Exact regimen must be set by the prescriber.
  • Swallow the capsule whole with a sufficient amount of water. Do not crush, chew, or open the capsule, as this will alter the modified-release properties.
  • May be taken with or without food, but try to take it at the same time(s) each day to maintain consistent blood levels.
  • Do not use Nitromack Retard 5 mg for the rapid relief of acute angina attacks. For acute attacks, sublingual nitroglycerin or other fast-acting nitrates prescribed by your doctor should be used.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for the next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
  • Do not stop taking this medication suddenly without consulting your doctor, as abrupt withdrawal may worsen angina.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Helps prevent episodes of angina pectoris by dilating coronary and systemic blood vessels, improving blood flow to the heart muscle.
  • Reduces myocardial oxygen demand by decreasing preload and afterload, thereby lowering the workload on the heart.
  • Supports better exercise tolerance and daily activity performance in patients with stable angina when used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
  • Modified-release formulation provides prolonged therapeutic effect, contributing to more stable symptom control over the dosing interval.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to nitroglycerin, other organic nitrates, or any component of the formulation.
  • Contraindicated in patients taking phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors (such as sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil) or soluble guanylate cyclase stimulators (such as riociguat) due to the risk of severe, potentially life-threatening hypotension.
  • Contraindicated in severe hypotension, shock, marked anemia, increased intracranial pressure, or severe head trauma unless specifically directed by a specialist.
  • Use with extreme caution in patients with low blood pressure, dehydration, volume depletion, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, or severe aortic/mitral valve stenosis.
  • May cause dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting, especially when standing up quickly. Avoid driving, operating machinery, or performing tasks requiring alertness until you know how the medicine affects you.
  • Alcohol may enhance the blood pressure-lowering effect of nitroglycerin and should be avoided or minimized.
  • Consult your doctor before use if pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Use only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus or infant.
  • Inform your doctor about all medications you are taking, especially other blood pressure medicines, diuretics, beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers, antidepressants, or any drugs for erectile dysfunction.
  • Consult your doctor before use if you have heart failure, recent myocardial infarction, liver disease, kidney disease, or any serious cardiovascular condition.
  • Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease outside its approved indications.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects:
  • Common side effects: headache (often throbbing), flushing, dizziness, lightheadedness, weakness, and palpitations. Headache is a frequent effect of nitrates and may lessen with continued use.
  • Less common side effects: nausea, vomiting, hypotension (low blood pressure), tachycardia (fast heartbeat), skin rash, or feeling faint.
  • Serious side effects (seek immediate medical attention): severe or persistent dizziness or fainting, very low blood pressure, severe headache, blurred vision, chest pain that worsens or changes in pattern, shortness of breath, or signs of allergic reaction (swelling of face, lips, tongue, throat, difficulty breathing, severe rash).
  • If side effects are severe, persistent, or concerning, contact your doctor promptly. Do not adjust or stop the medication without medical advice.

Storage Instructions:

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the container tightly closed and store at or below the temperature specified on the package insert (usually below 25°c), unless otherwise stated by the manufacturer. Keep out of reach of children.
