About the product

Sinopril 5 Mg Tablets

Description:

Sinopril 5 mg tablets are a prescription antihypertensive medicine containing lisinopril, an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. They are used to lower high blood pressure and to support heart function in certain cardiovascular conditions. By relaxing and widening blood vessels, Sinopril 5 mg helps reduce blood pressure, decrease the workload on the heart, and protect vital organs such as the kidneys, brain, and heart from long-term damage related to uncontrolled hypertension. This product is intended for adult use under medical supervision.

Indications:

  • Treatment of essential (primary) hypertension in adults.
  • Management of high blood pressure to reduce the risk of stroke, heart attack, and other cardiovascular complications.
  • Adjunctive treatment in certain types of heart failure (as prescribed by a cardiologist or physician).
  • May be used to help protect kidney function in patients with hypertension and other risk factors, as directed by a doctor.
  • Helps relieve symptoms associated with uncontrolled high blood pressure such as headaches, dizziness, and fatigue when blood pressure is controlled.

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Lisinopril – 5 mg per tablet (ace inhibitor, antihypertensive).
  • Excipients: Other inactive ingredients (tablet base, binders, fillers, and coatings) are present but specific details , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website.

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Use Sinopril 5 mg tablets exactly as prescribed by your physician. Do not change your dose without medical advice.
  • Typical adult starting dose for hypertension is determined by the doctor based on blood pressure level, kidney function, and other medications. The dose may be gradually adjusted.
  • Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew unless your doctor or pharmacist advises otherwise.
  • Can usually be taken with or without food, but take it at the same time each day for best blood pressure control.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for the next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
  • Continue taking Sinopril even if you feel well. High blood pressure often has no symptoms, and stopping treatment suddenly may worsen your condition.
  • Regular blood pressure monitoring and periodic blood tests (kidney function, electrolytes such as potassium) may be required during treatment.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Effectively lowers elevated blood pressure by inhibiting the conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, a potent vasoconstrictor.
  • Reduces aldosterone secretion, helping decrease sodium and water retention and lowering total peripheral vascular resistance.
  • Helps protect the heart and blood vessels by reducing both systolic and diastolic blood pressure without significantly affecting cardiac output or cardiovascular reflexes.
  • Maintains renal, cerebral, and coronary blood flow while lowering blood pressure, supporting long-term organ protection.
  • Improves arterial compliance and dilates arterioles, contributing to more stable blood pressure control with minimal risk of postural hypotension in most patients.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to lisinopril, any ACE inhibitor, or any component of the formulation.
  • Do not use if you have a history of angioedema related to previous ACE inhibitor therapy or hereditary/idiopathic angioedema.
  • Contraindicated during pregnancy. ACE inhibitors can cause injury and even death to the developing fetus. If pregnancy occurs, stop the medicine and contact your doctor immediately.
  • Use with extreme caution in patients with renal artery stenosis, severe kidney impairment, or those on dialysis. Dose adjustment and close monitoring are required.
  • Monitor potassium levels. Risk of hyperkalemia is increased in patients with kidney disease, diabetes, or those taking potassium-sparing diuretics, potassium supplements, or salt substitutes containing potassium.
  • May cause symptomatic hypotension, especially in volume-depleted patients (e.g., on high-dose diuretics, low-salt diet, vomiting, or diarrhea). Start under medical supervision.
  • Consult your doctor before use if you have liver disease, heart failure, diabetes, collagen vascular disease, or are taking other blood pressure medications, diuretics, or NSAIDs.
  • Not recommended in children unless specifically prescribed by a pediatric specialist.
  • Avoid alcohol or limit intake, as it may enhance the blood pressure–lowering effect and increase dizziness or fainting.
  • Consult your doctor before use if pregnant, nursing, taking medications, or have medical conditions such as kidney disease, liver disease, heart failure, or diabetes.
  • Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without medical supervision.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects:
  • Common side effects: dizziness, headache, fatigue, low blood pressure (especially after the first doses), dry persistent cough, nausea, or mild gastrointestinal discomfort.
  • Less common side effects: rash, itching, changes in taste, muscle cramps, or increased potassium levels.
  • Serious side effects (seek immediate medical attention): swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat (angioedema); severe dizziness or fainting; difficulty breathing; chest pain; or signs of severe kidney problems (marked decrease in urine output, swelling of legs, or sudden weight gain).
  • If you experience any unusual or persistent symptoms, contact your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
