Advochol 10Mg 28 Tab 6223006934023
Description:
Advochol 10 mg film-coated tablets contain rosuvastatin, a prescription lipid-lowering medicine from the statin (HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor) class. It is used to reduce high cholesterol and triglyceride levels and to help prevent cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke in patients at risk. By inhibiting the HMG-CoA reductase enzyme in the liver, Advochol decreases cholesterol synthesis, lowers low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL), and modestly increases high-density lipoprotein (HDL), supporting overall heart and vascular health when combined with a healthy diet and lifestyle.
Indications:
- Primary hypercholesterolemia (including heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia) to reduce elevated total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, apolipoprotein B, and triglycerides.
- Mixed dyslipidemia (combined hyperlipidemia) as an adjunct to diet when response to diet and other non-pharmacological measures is inadequate.
- Homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia as an adjunct to diet and other lipid-lowering treatments (e.g., LDL apheresis) or when such treatments are not appropriate.
- Prevention of major cardiovascular events (such as myocardial infarction, stroke, or arterial revascularization) in patients at high risk of a first cardiovascular event, in addition to correction of other risk factors.
- Reduction of elevated triglycerides and improvement of lipid profile (LDL, HDL, VLDL, non-HDL) as part of comprehensive cardiovascular risk management.
Active Ingredients / Key Components:
- Rosuvastatin (as rosuvastatin calcium) – 10 mg per film-coated tablet.
- Other tablet excipients (such as fillers, binders, coating agents, and colorants) are present but specific names and concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website.
Dosage & Administration / How to Use:
- Advochol 10 mg is taken orally as directed by a physician, usually once daily.
- Tablets may be taken with or without food, swallowed whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew film-coated tablets.
- Typical starting dose for adults with hypercholesterolemia is often 5–10 mg once daily, adjusted by the physician based on lipid levels, response, and tolerability. The 10 mg strength is a common initial or maintenance dose.
- Maximum daily dose of rosuvastatin is usually 40 mg, but the exact maximum and titration schedule must be determined by the treating doctor according to individual risk and local guidelines.
- Use as an adjunct to a standard cholesterol-lowering diet. Patients should follow a low-cholesterol, low-fat diet before and during treatment.
- If a dose is missed, take it as soon as remembered unless it is almost time for the next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed tablet.
- Regular monitoring of lipid profile and, when indicated, liver function tests and creatine kinase (CK) levels is recommended by the prescriber.
- Use in children and adolescents, elderly patients, or those with kidney or liver impairment must follow specific medical advice and adjusted dosing where appropriate.
Clinical Benefits:
- Effectively lowers LDL cholesterol ("bad" cholesterol) and total cholesterol, helping to reduce a key cardiovascular risk factor.
- Reduces very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) and triglyceride levels, improving overall lipid balance.
- Increases HDL cholesterol ("good" cholesterol), supporting healthier lipid ratios and cardiovascular protection.
- Helps prevent major cardiovascular events (such as heart attack and stroke) in high-risk patients when used alongside lifestyle modifications.
- Provides potent, dose-dependent lipid-lowering activity through selective inhibition of HMG-CoA reductase in the liver.
- Supports long-term management of dyslipidemia as part of a comprehensive heart health and disease-prevention strategy.
Warnings & Contraindications:
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to rosuvastatin or any component of the formulation.
- Contraindicated in patients with active liver disease, including unexplained persistent elevations of serum transaminases.
- Contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding; statins may harm the fetus and should be discontinued if pregnancy occurs.
- Use with caution in patients with a history of liver disease, heavy alcohol use, kidney impairment, hypothyroidism, or personal/family history of muscular disorders.
- Risk of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis increases with higher doses, advanced age, renal impairment, hypothyroidism, or concomitant use of certain drugs (e.g., some fibrates, cyclosporine, protease inhibitors). Inform your doctor about all medications and supplements you are taking.
- Periodic liver function tests may be recommended before and during treatment. Therapy may need to be stopped if marked liver enzyme elevations occur.
- Stop treatment and seek medical advice immediately if you experience unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, weakness, or cramps, especially if accompanied by malaise or fever.
- Consult your doctor before use if pregnant, nursing, planning pregnancy, taking other medications, or if you have medical conditions such as liver disease, kidney disease, thyroid disorders, diabetes, or muscle disorders.
- Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without proper medical supervision.
- Keep out of reach of children.
Side Effects:
- Common side effects may include headache, dizziness, abdominal pain, constipation, nausea, muscle pain, and weakness.
- Less common side effects may include itching, rash, joint pain, and elevated liver enzymes on blood tests.
- Serious but rare side effects include myopathy, rhabdomyolysis (severe muscle breakdown), kidney impairment, and severe allergic reactions (such as swelling of the face, lips, or throat, and difficulty breathing).
- In case of dark urine, severe muscle pain, unusual tiredness, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), or signs of an allergic reaction, stop taking the medicine and seek immediate medical attention.
- Not all possible side effects are listed. Patients should report any unusual or persistent symptoms to their healthcare provider.
