Alerid 10 Mg 30 Tablets
Description:
Alerid 10 mg 30 tablets is an oral antihistamine medicine containing cetirizine, a second-generation h1 receptor antagonist used for the relief of allergy symptoms. It helps control seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis (hay fever), sneezing, runny nose, itchy or watery eyes, and skin allergies such as urticaria (hives) and pruritic skin disorders. Alerid is non-sedating in most patients at recommended doses and is suitable for adults and children above the recommended age as directed by a healthcare professional.
Indications:
- Relief of symptoms of seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis (hay fever), including sneezing, rhinorrhoea (runny nose), nasal congestion, and postnasal discharge.
- Treatment of common allergy-related symptoms such as itchy nose, itchy or watery eyes, and throat irritation associated with colds and allergies.
- Management of chronic idiopathic urticaria (hives), including redness, itching, and raised skin welts.
- Adjunctive treatment for dermatitis and pruritic (itchy) skin disorders of allergic origin.
- Relief of itching and swelling in allergic conditions such as angioedema (as adjunct, under medical supervision).
Active Ingredients / Key Components:
- Cetirizine dihydrochloride – 10 mg per film-coated tablet (second-generation h1 antihistamine).
- Excipients: film-coating and tablet core ingredients such as fillers, binders, and coloring agents are present but specific excipients and their concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website.
Dosage & Administration / How to Use:
- Adults and adolescents (12 years and older): usual dose is 10 mg (1 tablet) once daily, preferably taken at the same time each day, with a glass of water.
- Children: dosing depends on age and body weight. Use only if recommended by a doctor and follow the prescribed dose. Do not exceed the recommended daily dose.
- Elderly patients or those with kidney or liver impairment: a lower dose or less frequent dosing may be required. Consult a healthcare professional before use.
- May be taken with or without food. Taking it in the evening may be preferred in patients who experience mild drowsiness.
- Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush or chew unless otherwise directed by your doctor or pharmacist.
- Duration of use should be as short as possible and limited to the period of exposure to allergens or as directed by your physician for chronic conditions such as chronic urticaria.
Clinical Benefits:
- Provides effective 24-hour relief from common allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, and itchy or watery eyes.
- Helps reduce skin itching, redness, and swelling associated with urticaria, dermatitis, and other pruritic skin disorders.
- Second-generation antihistamine with minimal penetration into the brain, resulting in lower risk of sedation compared to first-generation antihistamines in most patients.
- Selective peripheral h1 receptor blockade helps control histamine-mediated allergic reactions while maintaining a favorable safety profile when used as directed.
Warnings & Contraindications:
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to cetirizine, hydroxyzine, piperazine derivatives, or any of the excipients in the product.
- Use with caution in patients with moderate to severe renal impairment or hepatic impairment; dose adjustment may be necessary. Consult your doctor before use.
