About the product

Angiofox 50 Mg

Description:

Angiofox 50 mg is a prescription cardiovascular medicine containing the long-acting nitrate isosorbide-5-mononitrate. It is used in the prevention and long-term management of angina pectoris (chest pain) due to coronary artery disease. As a direct vasodilator, Angiofox 50 mg relaxes vascular smooth muscle, predominantly in the veins more than the arteries, reducing cardiac workload and improving blood flow to the heart muscle. It is not intended for the immediate relief of acute angina attacks but for regular use to decrease the frequency and severity of anginal episodes and improve exercise tolerance in patients with chronic stable angina.

Indications:

  • Prevention and long-term management of chronic stable angina pectoris due to coronary artery disease.
  • Reduction in frequency, intensity, and duration of angina (chest pain) episodes.
  • Improvement of exercise tolerance and reduction of angina triggered by physical or emotional stress.
  • Adjunctive therapy in patients with ischemic heart disease where nitrate prophylaxis is indicated, as prescribed by a cardiologist or physician.

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Isosorbide-5-mononitrate – 50 mg per tablet.
  • Inactive ingredients (excipients) may include tablet fillers, binders, and coating agents; detailed excipient list and their concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website.

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Use Angiofox 50 mg exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not change your dose or stop the medicine without medical advice.
  • Typical adult prophylactic dose for chronic stable angina (for long-acting isosorbide-5-mononitrate) is usually 1 tablet once or twice daily, with an appropriate nitrate-free interval to reduce the risk of tolerance. The exact regimen must be determined by the treating physician.
  • Swallow the tablet whole with a sufficient amount of water. Do not crush, chew, or break the tablet unless your doctor specifically instructs otherwise.
  • Can generally be taken with or without food; if stomach upset occurs, taking it after food may be helpful. Follow your doctor’s specific instructions.
  • Take the medicine at the same time(s) each day to maintain consistent blood levels and optimal angina prevention.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed dose.
  • Do not use Angiofox 50 mg for sudden, acute chest pain attacks; use your prescribed sublingual nitrate or emergency medication for acute episodes as directed by your doctor.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Helps prevent angina attacks by dilating veins and arteries, reducing the workload on the heart.
  • Improves blood flow and oxygen delivery to the heart muscle, helping to relieve ischemic chest pain.
  • Reduces the frequency and severity of chest pain episodes in patients with chronic stable angina.
  • Enhances exercise tolerance and physical activity capacity by lowering the likelihood of exertion-induced angina.
  • Provides long-acting nitrate therapy as part of comprehensive cardiovascular disease management under medical supervision.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to isosorbide-5-mononitrate, other organic nitrates, or any component of the formulation.
  • Contraindicated in patients taking phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors (such as sildenafil, tadalafil, vardenafil) for erectile dysfunction or pulmonary hypertension, due to the risk of severe, potentially life-threatening hypotension.
  • Contraindicated in patients with severe hypotension, shock (including cardiogenic shock unless adequate hemodynamic support is available), or marked anemia, unless specifically directed by a specialist.
  • Use with caution in patients with low blood pressure, volume depletion, severe aortic or mitral valve stenosis, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, or other conditions where a drop in blood pressure may be dangerous.
  • May cause dizziness, lightheadedness, or fainting, especially when standing up quickly. Avoid driving, operating machinery, or performing tasks requiring alertness until you know how the medicine affects you.
  • Alcohol may enhance the blood-pressure-lowering effect of Angiofox 50 mg and should be avoided or minimized.
  • Consult your doctor before use if pregnant or planning pregnancy. Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding should only occur if clearly needed and under medical supervision.
  • Use with caution in elderly patients, who may be more sensitive to blood pressure changes.
  • Do not abruptly stop long-term nitrate therapy without medical advice, as this may worsen angina symptoms.
  • Consult your doctor before use if you have liver disease, kidney disease, severe heart failure, recent heart attack, or any other serious medical condition.
  • Consult your doctor before use if you are taking other blood pressure medications, diuretics, calcium channel blockers, beta-blockers, or other vasodilators, as additive hypotensive effects may occur.
  • Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease outside the approved indications. Use only under medical supervision.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects:
  • Common side effects: headache (often throbbing), flushing, dizziness, lightheadedness, weakness, and a feeling of warmth, especially at the start of treatment. These may lessen as treatment continues.
  • Less common side effects: nausea, vomiting, heartburn, low blood pressure, palpitations, or fast heartbeat.
  • Serious side effects (seek immediate medical attention): severe or persistent headache, fainting, severe dizziness, very low blood pressure, worsening chest pain, shortness of breath, or signs of allergic reaction such as rash, itching, swelling (especially of face, lips, tongue, or throat), or difficulty breathing.
  • If any side effects become severe, persistent, or concerning, contact your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
