About the product

Aprovel 300Mg 14Tab

Description:

Aprovel 300 mg 14 tab is a prescription antihypertensive medicine containing irbesartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). It is used to lower high blood pressure and help protect the heart, blood vessels, and kidneys from long-term damage associated with hypertension. Aprovel 300 mg is suitable for adult patients and is typically used as part of a long-term blood pressure management plan, often in combination with lifestyle changes and, if needed, other blood pressure medications.

Indications:

  • Treatment of essential (primary) hypertension in adults.
  • Helps reduce elevated blood pressure and maintain it within target ranges.
  • May be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents such as diuretics (e.g., hydrochlorothiazide) as prescribed by a physician.
  • Reduces the risk of complications related to long-standing high blood pressure, such as cardiovascular events and damage to blood vessels and organs (heart, brain, kidneys), when used as part of comprehensive blood pressure control.

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Irbesartan – 300 mg per tablet.
  • Excipients: Other inactive ingredients (tablet core and coating) are present but specific excipients and their concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website.

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Usual adult dose: As directed by the physician. A common maintenance dose is 150–300 mg once daily, with 300 mg often used in patients requiring higher blood pressure control. Always follow your doctor’s specific instructions.
  • Route of administration: Oral.
  • Administration: Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew unless your doctor or pharmacist advises otherwise.
  • With or without food: Aprovel can be taken with or without food at approximately the same time each day to maintain consistent blood levels.
  • Missed dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed tablet.
  • Duration of use: Long-term treatment as prescribed. Do not stop taking Aprovel 300 mg without consulting your doctor, even if you feel well, as high blood pressure often has no symptoms.
  • Special populations: Dose adjustments may be required in patients with certain kidney or liver conditions or in elderly patients; this must be determined by the treating physician.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Effectively lowers elevated blood pressure by blocking the action of angiotensin II at AT1 receptors, resulting in vasodilation and reduced peripheral resistance.
  • Helps protect the cardiovascular system by reducing strain on the heart and blood vessels associated with uncontrolled hypertension.
  • Supports kidney protection in hypertensive patients by reducing pressure in the renal blood vessels, thereby helping to limit long-term damage.
  • Generally well tolerated and can be combined with other antihypertensive medications (e.g., diuretics) when additional blood pressure control is needed, as directed by a physician.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to irbesartan or any of the excipients in the formulation.
  • Contraindicated during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, due to risk of serious harm to the fetus. If pregnancy is detected, stop Aprovel and contact your doctor immediately.
  • Not recommended during breastfeeding unless clearly needed and only under medical supervision.
  • Use with caution in patients with kidney impairment, renal artery stenosis, liver impairment, heart failure, or those who are volume- or salt-depleted (e.g., due to high-dose diuretics, vomiting, or diarrhea).
  • May increase blood potassium levels (hyperkalemia), especially when used with potassium-sparing diuretics, potassium supplements, or salt substitutes containing potassium. Regular monitoring of serum potassium and kidney function may be required.
  • May cause symptomatic hypotension (low blood pressure), particularly after the first dose or dose increases, in patients who are dehydrated or on high-dose diuretics.
  • Drug interactions: Use with caution with other medications that affect the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) or that can affect kidney function or potassium levels. No significant interactions have been found with hydrochlorothiazide, digoxin, warfarin, or nifedipine in available data, but your doctor should review all your medications.
  • Consult your doctor before use if pregnant, nursing, taking other medications, or if you have medical conditions such as kidney disease, liver disease, heart failure, diabetes, or electrolyte imbalances.
  • Do not use this medicine in children unless specifically prescribed by a pediatric specialist.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects:
  • Common side effects may include dizziness, fatigue, headache, nausea, or gastrointestinal discomfort, especially at the start of treatment or after dose changes.
  • Less common side effects can include low blood pressure (hypotension), especially in volume-depleted patients, and increased blood potassium levels (hyperkalemia).
  • Rare but serious side effects may include kidney function deterioration, allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing), or severe dizziness/fainting.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience signs of severe allergic reaction, severe dizziness, fainting, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, or a marked decrease in urine output.
  • This is not a complete list of side effects. Always consult your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any unusual symptoms or if side effects persist or worsen.

Storage Instructions:

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep container tightly closed in its original blister pack or carton to protect from moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
