About the product

Atozet 10 Mg 20 Tablets

Description:

Atozet 10 mg 20 tablets is a prescription oral lipid-lowering medicine that combines two active ingredients, atorvastatin and ezetimibe, in a single tablet. It is used to reduce high cholesterol and triglyceride levels and to help prevent cardiovascular events in patients at risk. Atozet works by both decreasing the production of cholesterol in the liver (via atorvastatin, a statin) and reducing the absorption of cholesterol from the intestine (via ezetimibe, a cholesterol absorption inhibitor). It is usually prescribed as part of a comprehensive treatment plan that includes a cholesterol-lowering diet, regular exercise, and lifestyle modification.

Indications:

  • Treatment of primary hypercholesterolemia (high cholesterol), including heterozygous familial and non-familial hypercholesterolemia, when combination therapy with a statin and ezetimibe is appropriate.
  • Treatment of combined (mixed) hyperlipidemia to reduce elevated total cholesterol, ldl-cholesterol ("bad" cholesterol), triglycerides, and apolipoprotein b, and to increase hdl-cholesterol ("good" cholesterol).
  • Adjunctive therapy to diet in patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia to reduce total cholesterol and ldl-cholesterol, usually in combination with other lipid-lowering treatments (such as ldl apheresis) or when such treatments are not available.
  • Reduction of cardiovascular risk (such as heart attack and stroke) in patients with high cholesterol and additional risk factors, as part of long-term cardiovascular risk management.

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Atorvastatin – 10 mg per tablet (hmg-coa reductase inhibitor, statin, antilipemic agent).
  • Ezetimibe – 10 mg per tablet (cholesterol absorption inhibitor, 2-azetidinone derivative, hypolipidemic agent).
  • Other inactive ingredients (excipients, film-coating agents, stabilizers) are present but specific excipient names and concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website. Refer to the official package leaflet for the full excipient list.

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Adults: The typical dose is 1 tablet of Atozet 10 mg once daily, or as directed by your physician. The exact strength and regimen may be adjusted based on your lipid levels, treatment goals, and clinical response.
  • Take the tablet orally with a glass of water. It can be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day to help you remember your dose.
  • Continue following a cholesterol-lowering diet and lifestyle program (diet, exercise, weight control, smoking cessation) while taking Atozet.
  • If you are also taking bile acid sequestrants (such as cholestyramine or colestipol), take Atozet at least 2 hours before or at least 4 hours after the bile acid sequestrant to avoid reduced absorption.
  • Do not exceed the prescribed dose. Do not stop taking the medicine without consulting your doctor, even if you feel well, as cholesterol problems usually have no symptoms.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember on the same day. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
  • Use in children and adolescents should only be under specialist supervision; dosing recommendations may differ and must follow the doctor’s instructions.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Provides dual cholesterol control by reducing both intestinal absorption of cholesterol (ezetimibe) and hepatic cholesterol synthesis (atorvastatin).
  • Helps significantly lower ldl-cholesterol, total cholesterol, non-hdl cholesterol, and apolipoprotein b, supporting better lipid profile management.
  • Can reduce elevated triglycerides and may help increase hdl-cholesterol, contributing to improved overall cardiovascular risk profile.
  • Offers convenient once-daily combination therapy, which may improve adherence compared to taking ezetimibe and a statin separately.
  • Indicated for patients with familial hypercholesterolemia and combined hyperlipidemia who require intensive lipid-lowering therapy beyond diet and lifestyle changes.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Contraindicated in patients with active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevations in serum transaminases.
  • Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to atorvastatin, ezetimibe, or any component of the formulation.
  • Use is generally contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as statins may harm the fetus or nursing infant. Women of childbearing potential should use effective contraception while taking this medicine.
  • Use with caution in patients with a history of liver impairment, heavy alcohol use, or those taking other medicines that may affect the liver. Liver function tests may be required before and during treatment.
  • Statins, including atorvastatin, may rarely cause myopathy and rhabdomyolysis. Inform your doctor immediately if you experience unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, weakness, or cramps, especially if accompanied by fever or malaise.
  • Use with caution in patients with kidney impairment, hypothyroidism, or a personal or family history of hereditary muscle disorders, as these may increase the risk of muscle-related side effects.
  • Certain medicines (such as some antibiotics, antifungals, immunosuppressants, and other lipid-lowering drugs like fibrates or high-dose niacin) may increase the risk of muscle problems or alter statin levels. Inform your doctor about all medications and supplements you are taking.
  • Consult your doctor before use if you are pregnant, planning pregnancy, breastfeeding, have liver disease, kidney disease, thyroid disorders, diabetes, muscle disorders, or are taking other prescription or over-the-counter medicines.
  • Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without medical supervision; it is a prescription medicine that must be used under a doctor’s guidance.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects:
  • Common side effects may include headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, indigestion, flatulence, fatigue, or mild elevation of liver enzymes in blood tests.
  • Muscle-related side effects such as myalgia (muscle pain), muscle tenderness, or weakness can occur. Rarely, serious muscle breakdown (rhabdomyolysis) with kidney damage may develop. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice severe muscle pain, dark-colored urine, or unusual tiredness.
  • Allergic reactions such as rash, itching, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing are rare but serious and require urgent medical care.
  • Other possible side effects (reported with statins and/or ezetimibe) can include dizziness, joint pain, sleep disturbances, or changes in laboratory tests (such as liver function or creatine kinase). Your doctor may monitor these periodically.
  • If you experience any persistent, bothersome, or unusual symptoms while taking Atozet, contact your healthcare provider promptly.
