About the product

Ceporex 1 gm Tablets

Description:

Ceporex 1 gm tablets are a prescription systemic antibiotic medicine containing cefalexin, a first-generation cephalosporin. They are used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death. Ceporex is commonly prescribed for respiratory, urinary, skin, bone, and ear infections, and is suitable for adults and children as directed by a physician. This product is intended for the treatment of bacterial infections only and is not effective against viral illnesses such as the common cold or flu.

Indications:

  • Respiratory tract infections (such as pharyngitis, tonsillitis, bronchitis, and pneumonia) caused by susceptible bacteria.
  • Urinary tract infections (cystitis, pyelonephritis) caused by susceptible organisms.
  • Skin and soft tissue infections, including cellulitis, abscesses, and wound infections.
  • Bone and joint infections (such as osteomyelitis) caused by susceptible bacteria.
  • Otitis media (middle ear infections).
  • Reproductive tract infections caused by susceptible organisms.
  • Surgical prophylaxis in selected cases as directed by a physician to reduce the risk of postoperative infections.

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Cefalexin – 1 g per tablet (1000 mg) – first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic.
  • Excipients: Other inactive ingredients (tablet core and coating) are present but specific excipient names and concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website.

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Dosage must always be determined by a physician based on the type and severity of infection, patient age, body weight, and kidney function.
  • Adults: Common total daily doses of cefalexin range from 1 g to 4 g per day, divided into 2–4 doses. Ceporex 1 g tablets may be used once or twice daily in appropriate regimens as prescribed.
  • Children: A weight-based dose is typically used (for example, cefalexin 25–50 mg/kg/day divided into multiple doses). Use only under pediatric medical supervision. A 1 g tablet may not be suitable for small children who require lower doses.
  • Administration: Swallow the tablet whole with a full glass of water. Do not crush or chew unless your doctor or pharmacist advises that this is acceptable.
  • With or without food: Ceporex can be taken with or without food. Taking it with food may help reduce potential stomach upset.
  • Duration of treatment: Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully. Treatment usually continues for 7–14 days depending on the infection. Do not stop taking the medicine early even if you feel better, as this may lead to recurrence or antibiotic resistance.
  • Missed dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
  • Do not share this antibiotic with others and do not use it for any condition other than that for which it was prescribed.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Effectively treats a wide range of gram-positive and some gram-negative bacterial infections by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis.
  • Helps relieve infection-related symptoms such as fever, pain, inflammation, and discomfort when used as directed.
  • Supports faster recovery and reduces the risk of infection-related complications when the full prescribed course is completed.
  • Can be used in various body systems (respiratory, urinary, skin, bone, ear, reproductive tract) providing a versatile treatment option for many common bacterial infections.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity (allergy) to cefalexin, other cephalosporins, or any component of the formulation.
  • Use with caution in patients with a history of severe hypersensitivity reactions to penicillins or other beta-lactam antibiotics, as cross-sensitivity may occur.
  • Contraindicated in patients with porphyria and in certain neuromuscular disorders as noted in clinical references; use only under specialist supervision in such conditions.
  • Use with caution in patients with renal (kidney) impairment; dose adjustment may be required. Your doctor may monitor kidney function during treatment.
  • Prolonged use may lead to overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, including fungi; if superinfection occurs, appropriate therapy should be instituted.
  • Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhea (including pseudomembranous colitis) has been reported with nearly all antibacterial agents; consider this diagnosis in patients who develop severe or persistent diarrhea during or after therapy.
  • Consult your doctor before use if pregnant or planning pregnancy. Cefalexin is generally considered when benefits outweigh potential risks.
  • If breastfeeding, consult your doctor, as cefalexin is excreted in breast milk; monitor the infant for diarrhea, candidiasis, or rash.
  • Inform your doctor about all other medicines you are taking, especially other antibiotics, anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin), and nephrotoxic drugs.
  • Patients with diabetes should be aware that some formulations of cefalexin may interfere with certain urine glucose tests; consult your healthcare provider.
  • Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without a doctor’s prescription and supervision.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects:
  • Common side effects: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, indigestion, and mild skin rash may occur. These are usually temporary and mild.
  • Less common side effects: Headache, dizziness, fatigue, joint pain, or vaginal candidiasis (thrush) may occur in some patients.
  • Allergic reactions: Stop the medicine and seek immediate medical attention if you experience signs of allergy such as rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, difficulty breathing, or severe dizziness.
  • Serious side effects (seek urgent medical help): Severe or persistent diarrhea, bloody stools, abdominal cramping (possible C. difficile-associated colitis), yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), dark urine, unusual bleeding or bruising, or severe skin reactions.
  • If any side effects worsen or you notice any other unexpected symptoms, contact your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
