Cetal 1000 Mg 15 Tablets
Description:
Cetal 1000 mg 15 tablets is a high‑strength analgesic and antipyretic medicine containing paracetamol (acetaminophen). It is used for the fast and effective relief of moderate pain and fever in adults and adolescents, including headache, migraine, toothache, menstrual pain, musculoskeletal pain, and flu‑related fever. Cetal 1000 mg is manufactured by EIPICO and is intended for short‑term use under proper dosing guidance. It acts centrally on the brain to reduce pain perception and lower elevated body temperature, while having minimal peripheral anti‑inflammatory effect.
Indications:
- Relief of mild to moderate pain such as headache, tension headache, and migraine attacks.
- Reduction of fever associated with common cold, influenza, and other infections.
- Relief of dental pain, including toothache and pain after dental procedures.
- Relief of musculoskeletal pain such as back pain, muscle aches, and joint pain.
- Relief of menstrual (period) pain and cramps.
- Adjunctive treatment for pain and fever in conditions such as acute gout, as directed by a physician.
Active Ingredients / Key Components:
- Paracetamol (acetaminophen) – 1000 mg per tablet.
- Excipients: Other inactive ingredients (tablet base, binders, coatings) – For full ingredient information, please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website..
Dosage & Administration / How to Use:
- Route of administration: Oral use only. Swallow the tablet with a sufficient amount of water. Do not chew unless advised and tablet is scored for division.
- Adults and adolescents (usually ≥ 15 years or ≥ 50 kg body weight): Commonly 1 tablet (1000 mg) up to 3 times daily as needed, with a minimum interval of 6 hours between doses. Do not exceed a total daily dose of 3000–4000 mg paracetamol from all sources. Follow your doctor’s or pharmacist’s instructions and the package insert.
- Children: Cetal 1000 mg strength is generally not recommended for children due to high dose per tablet. Use pediatric paracetamol formulations and doses as directed by a pediatrician.
- With or without food: Can be taken with or without food. Taking with food may reduce stomach discomfort in sensitive individuals.
- Duration of use: For self‑medication, do not use for more than 3 days for fever or 5 days for pain without medical supervision. If symptoms persist, worsen, or new symptoms appear, consult a doctor.
- Missed dose: Take only when needed for pain or fever. If on a scheduled regimen, skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose. Do not double the dose.
- Important: Check all other medicines (cold/flu combinations, analgesics) to ensure they do not contain paracetamol to avoid accidental overdose.
Clinical Benefits:
- Provides effective analgesic action by raising the pain threshold through central inhibition of cyclo‑oxygenase enzymes in the brain.
- Reduces fever by acting directly on the thermoregulatory center in the hypothalamus and blocking the effects of endogenous pyrogens.
- Offers non‑narcotic pain relief without causing dependence or significant sedation at recommended doses.
- Suitable for patients who cannot tolerate non‑steroidal anti‑inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) due to gastric irritation or other contraindications, when used under medical advice.
Warnings & Contraindications:
- Do not use if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to paracetamol, acetaminophen, or any of the tablet’s components.
- Contraindicated in severe liver impairment, active severe liver disease, or severe hepatic failure due to increased risk of hepatotoxicity.
- Use with extreme caution in patients with chronic alcohol use, alcohol dependence, or those taking other hepatotoxic drugs, as chronic excessive ingestion of alcohol potentiates paracetamol‑induced liver damage.
- Use with caution in patients with liver disease, kidney impairment, glucose‑6‑phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency, or chronic malnutrition; consult a physician before use.
- Do not exceed the recommended dose or duration. Overdose may cause serious, potentially fatal liver damage, sometimes without early symptoms.
- Avoid concomitant use with other medicines containing paracetamol/acetaminophen to prevent accidental overdose.
- Drug interactions: Cholestyramine may reduce absorption of paracetamol if taken within 1 hour; activated charcoal given immediately after ingestion reduces paracetamol absorption; domperidone and metoclopramide may enhance paracetamol absorption and onset of action; chronic alcohol intake increases risk of hepatotoxicity.
- Consult your doctor before use if pregnant or breastfeeding. Paracetamol is generally considered compatible when used at recommended doses, but medical advice is recommended.
- Consult your doctor before use if you are taking other prescription medications, especially anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin), anti‑epileptics, rifampicin, isoniazid, or other liver‑affecting drugs.
- Stop use and seek medical advice if pain or fever persists, worsens, or if new symptoms such as rash, persistent headache, or nausea occur.
- Keep out of reach of children.
Side Effects:
- Generally well tolerated at recommended doses.
- Possible side effects include nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, or mild gastrointestinal upset.
- Allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching, urticaria, or swelling (angioedema) may occur in sensitive individuals. Rarely, serious skin reactions (e.g., Stevens‑Johnson syndrome) have been reported with paracetamol.
- High doses or prolonged use, especially in overdose situations, can cause severe liver damage, which may present with loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dark urine, or jaundice (yellowing of skin/eyes).
- Very rare hematological effects (e.g., thrombocytopenia, leukopenia) may occur.
- Seek immediate medical attention or go to the nearest emergency department if overdose is suspected, even if you feel well, or if you develop signs of allergic reaction or liver problems.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Keep the blister pack in the outer carton to protect from light. Do not store above the temperature stated on the package (commonly below 25°c, if specified). Keep container tightly closed and keep out of reach of children.
