About the product

Ciprofloxacin 500Mg 10 Tab Organopharma

Description:

Ciprofloxacin 500mg 10 Tab Organopharma is a prescription systemic antibiotic medicine containing ciprofloxacin, a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone. It is used in adults to treat a wide range of moderate to severe bacterial infections caused by susceptible organisms, including infections of the urinary tract, respiratory tract, skin and soft tissues, bones and joints, gastrointestinal tract, and certain sexually transmitted and gynecological infections. This oral tablet formulation is designed for systemic action, helping to stop bacterial growth and clear infection when used under medical supervision.

Indications:

  • Urinary tract infections (UTIs), including complicated and uncomplicated infections such as cystitis and pyelonephritis.
  • Respiratory tract infections, including certain cases of bronchitis and pneumonia caused by susceptible bacteria.
  • Bone and joint infections caused by ciprofloxacin-sensitive organisms.
  • Infectious diarrhoea caused by susceptible bacterial pathogens.
  • Uncomplicated gonorrhoea and certain other sexually transmitted infections as directed by a physician.
  • Ear, nose and throat (ENT) infections, including some cases of otitis and sinusitis due to susceptible bacteria.
  • Skin and soft tissue infections.
  • Typhoid fever and other systemic salmonella infections, as prescribed.
  • Intra-abdominal infections, usually in combination with other appropriate agents.
  • Acute and chronic bacterial prostatitis.
  • Acute bacterial sinusitis due to susceptible organisms.
  • Chancroid and certain gynecological infections, as guided by culture and sensitivity.
  • Tularemia and other serious infections where ciprofloxacin is indicated by current guidelines.

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Ciprofloxacin – 500 mg per tablet (fluoroquinolone antibacterial agent).
  • Excipients: Exact excipient composition and concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website. Refer to the official package insert for full inactive ingredient list.

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • This product is a prescription-only systemic antibiotic and must be used exactly as directed by a physician.
  • Typical adult dose: 250–750 mg ciprofloxacin every 12 hours, depending on the type and severity of infection, renal function, and clinical guidelines. The specific dose and duration will be determined by your doctor.
  • Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew unless your doctor or pharmacist advises otherwise.
  • Can be taken with or without food; however, taking it at the same times each day helps maintain stable blood levels.
  • Avoid taking ciprofloxacin together with dairy products (such as milk or yogurt) or calcium-fortified juices as the only meal, as they may reduce absorption. It may be taken with these foods as part of a larger meal if advised by your doctor.
  • Do not take at the same time as antacids, sucralfate, or supplements containing iron, zinc, magnesium, or aluminum. If needed, take ciprofloxacin at least 2 hours before or 4–6 hours after such products.
  • Duration of treatment usually ranges from 3 to 14 days or longer for severe or complicated infections, as prescribed.
  • Complete the full course of therapy even if symptoms improve early to prevent relapse and antibiotic resistance.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for the next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed dose.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Broad-spectrum antibacterial activity: Effective against many gram-negative and some gram-positive bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa, helping treat diverse systemic infections.
  • High tissue penetration: Achieves good concentrations in urine, respiratory tract, gastrointestinal tract, skin, bones, and joints, supporting effective infection control at multiple body sites.
  • Rapid onset of action: Inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, leading to quick reduction in bacterial growth and improvement in infection-related symptoms when used appropriately.
  • Convenient oral dosing: 500 mg tablet strength allows twice-daily dosing for many indications, improving treatment adherence compared with more frequent dosing regimens.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to ciprofloxacin, other fluoroquinolones, or any component of the formulation.
  • Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment or renal impairment; dose adjustment may be required. Close medical supervision is recommended.
  • Use with caution in patients with a history of epilepsy, seizures, or other central nervous system (CNS) disorders, as fluoroquinolones may lower the seizure threshold.
  • Dehydration may increase the risk of adverse effects such as kidney problems; maintain adequate fluid intake during therapy.
  • Fluoroquinolones have been associated with tendinitis and tendon rupture, peripheral neuropathy, CNS effects, and exacerbation of myasthenia gravis. Discontinue and contact a doctor immediately if tendon pain, swelling, weakness, numbness, tingling, severe headache, confusion, or visual disturbances occur.
  • May cause dizziness, drowsiness, or visual disturbances. Use caution while driving vehicles, operating machinery, or performing hazardous activities until you know how the medicine affects you.
  • Use in pregnancy and breastfeeding only if clearly needed and prescribed by a doctor; safety data are limited and potential risks must be weighed against benefits.
  • Not generally recommended in children and adolescents except for specific, serious infections and under specialist supervision.
  • May interact with other medicines such as theophylline, warfarin, certain antiarrhythmics, antidiabetic drugs, NSAIDs, and others. Inform your doctor and pharmacist about all medicines and supplements you are taking.
  • Consult your doctor before use if pregnant, nursing, taking medications, or have medical conditions such as kidney disease, liver disease, diabetes, seizure disorders, heart rhythm disorders, or myasthenia gravis.
  • Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without a doctor’s prescription and supervision.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects:
  • Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, headache, dizziness, and changes in taste. These are usually mild and transient.
  • Other possible effects include rash, itching, restlessness, insomnia, or photosensitivity (increased sensitivity to sunlight). Avoid excessive sun exposure and use sun protection.
  • Serious but less common side effects can include severe allergic reactions (swelling of face, lips, tongue, difficulty breathing), severe skin reactions, tendon pain or rupture (especially Achilles tendon), peripheral neuropathy (numbness, tingling, burning pain), seizures, severe diarrhoea (possibly Clostridioides difficile-associated), liver dysfunction, or heart rhythm disturbances (QT prolongation).
  • Stop the medicine and seek immediate medical attention if you experience tendon pain or swelling, severe diarrhoea, yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, chest pain, palpitations, fainting, severe rash, or any signs of an allergic reaction.
