About the product›
Clear Air 4 Mg 14 Tablets
Description:
Clear Air 4 mg 14 tablets is a prescription oral anti-asthma medicine containing montelukast, a leukotriene receptor antagonist. It is used as a controller medication to help prevent asthma symptoms, improve breathing, and reduce bronchoconstriction triggered by allergens, exercise, or environmental irritants. Clear Air 4 mg is typically used in pediatric patients as part of a long-term asthma management plan and is not intended for the relief of acute asthma attacks. Always use under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
Indications:
- Long-term management and prophylaxis of chronic asthma, especially in pediatric patients where a 4 mg dose is appropriate (exact approved age range may vary by country; consult your doctor).
- Prevention of exercise-induced bronchoconstriction in patients where montelukast 4 mg is indicated.
- Relief and prevention of asthma-related symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and night-time coughing.
- May be used as add-on therapy in patients with mild to moderate persistent asthma who are inadequately controlled with inhaled corticosteroids (as directed by a physician).
Active Ingredients / Key Components:
- Montelukast – 4 mg per tablet (leukotriene (CysLT1) receptor antagonist)
- Other tablet excipients: full excipient list and their concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website. Please refer to the official package insert for complete details.
Dosage & Administration / How to Use:
- Use only as prescribed by a physician. The 4 mg strength is generally used for children; the exact age group and regimen must be confirmed by your doctor.
- Typical administration: 1 tablet once daily, preferably in the evening, with or without food, or as directed by your healthcare provider.
- Tablets should be swallowed with a sufficient amount of water. Do not crush or chew unless your doctor specifically advises otherwise.
- For asthma control, take Clear Air 4 mg every day even when you have no symptoms; do not stop suddenly without medical advice.
- Clear Air 4 mg is not a rescue medicine. Do not use it to treat sudden asthma attacks; always keep a fast-acting bronchodilator (reliever inhaler) available as prescribed.
- If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for the next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
Clinical Benefits:
- Helps prevent asthma attacks by blocking leukotriene receptors (CysLT1), which mediate bronchoconstriction and airway inflammation.
- Reduces frequency and severity of asthma symptoms such as wheezing, coughing, and shortness of breath when taken regularly.
- Improves lung function and breathing comfort, supporting better exercise tolerance and daily activity in children with asthma.
- Provides convenient once-daily oral dosing, which may improve adherence to long-term asthma management plans.
Warnings & Contraindications:
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to montelukast or any component of the formulation.
- Not indicated for the treatment of acute asthma attacks or status asthmaticus. Patients must have access to a short-acting bronchodilator for emergencies.
- Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment; dose adjustment or closer monitoring may be required as determined by the physician.
- Neuropsychiatric events (including agitation, aggression, anxiety, sleep disturbances, depression, and very rarely suicidal thoughts and behavior) have been reported with montelukast. Caregivers should monitor for behavioral or mood changes and report them immediately to a doctor.
- Do not abruptly substitute Clear Air 4 mg for inhaled or oral corticosteroids; any change in steroid therapy must be gradual and supervised by a physician.
- Drug interactions: enzyme-inducing drugs such as barbiturates and primidone (e.g., phenobarbital) may reduce plasma concentrations of montelukast and decrease its effectiveness. Inform your doctor about all medicines you are taking.
- Consult your doctor before use if pregnant or planning pregnancy. Use in pregnancy and breastfeeding should be based on a careful risk–benefit assessment by the physician.
- Consult your doctor before use if you have liver disease, severe asthma, or are taking other long-term medications.
- Keep out of reach of children.
Side Effects:
- Common side effects may include headache, abdominal pain, diarrhea, nausea, thirst, or fatigue.
- Other reported effects include upper respiratory tract infections, cough, fever, rash, and dizziness.
- Neuropsychiatric side effects such as sleep disturbances, nightmares, irritability, agitation, anxiety, depression, or unusual behavior may occur in some patients. Seek medical advice if any mood or behavior changes are noticed.
- Serious allergic reactions (e.g., swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, difficulty breathing, severe rash) are rare but require immediate medical attention.
- If any side effect is severe, persistent, or worrying, stop the medicine and contact your healthcare provider promptly.
