About the product

Crestor 10 Mg 28 Tablets

Description:

Crestor 10 mg is a prescription oral lipid-lowering medicine containing rosuvastatin, a statin (HMG‑CoA reductase inhibitor) used to reduce high cholesterol and triglycerides and to help prevent cardiovascular events. It works by inhibiting cholesterol synthesis in the liver, increasing LDL receptors, and improving the balance of blood lipids (lowering LDL, non‑HDL, VLDL and triglycerides while modestly increasing HDL). Crestor 10 mg film‑coated tablets are indicated as part of a comprehensive cardiovascular risk reduction plan that includes diet, exercise, and lifestyle modification under medical supervision.

Indications:

  • Treatment of primary hypercholesterolemia (including heterozygous familial hypercholesterolemia) and mixed dyslipidemia as an adjunct to diet.
  • Treatment of homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia as an adjunct to diet and other lipid‑lowering treatments (such as LDL apheresis) or when such treatments are not appropriate.
  • Reduction of elevated total cholesterol (TC), low‑density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL‑C), non‑HDL‑C, apolipoprotein B (ApoB), and triglycerides; increase of high‑density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL‑C).
  • Prevention of major cardiovascular events (such as myocardial infarction, stroke, or arterial revascularization) in patients at high risk for a first cardiovascular event, as part of a comprehensive risk reduction strategy.
  • Management of dyslipidemia associated with other cardiovascular risk factors such as diabetes, hypertension, or existing coronary heart disease, when prescribed by a physician.

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Rosuvastatin (as rosuvastatin calcium) – 10 mg per film‑coated tablet.
  • Other excipients (tablet core and film coat) are present but specific excipient names and concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website. Refer to the official package leaflet for the full excipient list.

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Use only under the supervision and prescription of a physician.
  • Typical adult starting dose: 5 mg to 10 mg once daily, adjusted based on lipid profile, treatment goals, and patient response. This product provides the 10 mg strength.
  • Maximum usual daily dose in many patients is up to 40 mg, but higher doses are reserved for selected high‑risk patients and must be determined strictly by the doctor.
  • Take Crestor 10 mg once daily, at the same time each day, with or without food, swallowing the tablet whole with water. Do not crush or chew.
  • Continue following a cholesterol‑lowering diet and lifestyle program (low saturated fat diet, weight control, physical activity, smoking cessation) as advised by your healthcare provider.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed tablet.
  • Dosage adjustments may be needed in patients with kidney impairment, liver impairment, Asian ancestry, or those taking certain interacting medicines (e.g. some antivirals, fibrates). Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully.
  • Not recommended for use in children unless specifically prescribed by a specialist according to pediatric dosing guidelines.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Effectively lowers LDL cholesterol, non‑HDL cholesterol, and total cholesterol, helping to correct high cholesterol levels.
  • Reduces triglycerides and very low density lipoprotein (VLDL), improving overall lipid profile in mixed dyslipidemia.
  • Modestly increases HDL ("good") cholesterol, supporting a healthier cardiovascular risk profile.
  • Helps slow the progression of atherosclerosis and reduces the risk of major cardiovascular events (heart attack, stroke, need for revascularization) in high‑risk patients when used as part of comprehensive risk management.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Contraindicated in patients with active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevations of serum transaminases.
  • Contraindicated in pregnancy and breastfeeding. Statins may harm the fetus; discontinue immediately if pregnancy occurs and inform your doctor.
  • Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to rosuvastatin or any component of the formulation.
  • Use with caution in patients with a history of liver disease, heavy alcohol use, kidney impairment, hypothyroidism, or personal/family history of hereditary muscle disorders.
  • May cause myopathy and, rarely, rhabdomyolysis (serious muscle breakdown). Risk increases with higher doses, advanced age, kidney impairment, hypothyroidism, and concomitant use of certain drugs (e.g. fibrates, some antivirals, cyclosporine).
  • Inform your doctor about all medicines and supplements you are taking, especially other lipid‑lowering drugs (fibrates, niacin), anticoagulants (e.g. warfarin), certain antivirals, and immunosuppressants.
  • Liver function tests may be performed before starting therapy and periodically during treatment, as recommended by your physician.
  • Consult your doctor before use if pregnant, nursing, planning pregnancy, taking other medications, or if you have liver disease, kidney disease, thyroid disorders, diabetes, or muscle disorders.
  • Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without proper medical supervision.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects:
  • Common side effects may include headache, dizziness, abdominal pain, constipation, nausea, muscle pain (myalgia), and weakness.
  • Less common side effects can include itching or rash, joint pain, and increased blood sugar levels or onset/worsening of diabetes in predisposed individuals.
  • Serious but rare side effects include severe muscle pain, tenderness or weakness (especially with fever or dark‑colored urine), rhabdomyolysis, liver problems (yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine, severe fatigue), and allergic reactions (swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat, difficulty breathing).
  • Stop taking the medicine and seek immediate medical attention if you experience severe muscle symptoms, signs of liver problems, or any signs of a serious allergic reaction.
  • Report any unusual or persistent side effects to your doctor or pharmacist.
