About the product

E-Mox 500 Mg 16 Capsules

Description:

E-Mox 500 mg 16 capsules is a prescription systemic antibiotic medication containing amoxicillin, a penicillin-type beta-lactam antibiotic. It is used to treat a wide range of bacterial infections caused by susceptible microorganisms, helping to stop bacterial growth and clear infection. This oral antibiotic is commonly prescribed for respiratory tract infections, ear, nose and throat infections, urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, and certain sexually transmitted infections such as uncomplicated gonorrhea. E-Mox 500 mg is produced by EIPICO and is intended for use under medical supervision.

Indications:

  • Treatment of lower respiratory tract infections such as pneumonia and bronchitis caused by susceptible bacteria.
  • Treatment of upper respiratory tract infections including infections of the ears, nose and throat (e.g., otitis media, sinusitis, tonsillitis, pharyngitis).
  • Treatment of urinary tract infections (UTIs) such as cystitis and uncomplicated pyelonephritis caused by susceptible organisms.
  • Treatment of skin and soft tissue infections including cellulitis, impetigo and wound infections.
  • Treatment of uncomplicated gonorrhea caused by susceptible Neisseria gonorrhoeae strains.
  • May be used as part of combination therapy for other infections as directed by a physician, based on local guidelines and bacterial susceptibility.

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Amoxicillin (as amoxicillin trihydrate) – 500 mg per capsule.
  • Excipients (capsule fillers, capsule shell components, stabilizers) – exact composition and concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website. Refer to the package leaflet for full excipient list.

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Adults: Typical dose is 250 mg to 500 mg three times daily, as directed by the physician, depending on the type and severity of the infection. E-Mox 500 mg capsules are usually taken every 8 hours.
  • Children: The recommended dose is 25 mg/kg/day in divided doses every 12 hours, or as prescribed by the pediatrician. Lower-strength formulations are usually preferred for children to allow accurate dosing.
  • Route of administration: Oral. Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the capsule unless advised by your doctor.
  • With or without food: E-Mox capsules can be taken with or without food. Taking with food may help reduce potential stomach upset.
  • Duration of treatment: Duration depends on the type and severity of infection and should be determined by the doctor. Common courses range from 5 to 14 days. For some infections (e.g., streptococcal infections), treatment should be continued for at least 10 days.
  • Missed dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
  • Do not stop treatment early: Always complete the full course prescribed, even if symptoms improve earlier, to prevent relapse and antibiotic resistance.
  • Use only under medical supervision and according to your doctor’s prescription. Do not share this medicine with others.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Effectively treats a broad range of bacterial infections by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to bacterial death.
  • Helps relieve symptoms associated with infections such as fever, pain, cough, sore throat, burning urination and skin redness once bacterial growth is controlled.
  • Convenient oral capsule form allows systemic antibiotic therapy at home without the need for injections in many cases.
  • Well-established safety and efficacy profile as a widely used penicillin-type antibiotic when taken as prescribed.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to amoxicillin, other penicillins, or any component of the formulation.
  • Use with extreme caution in patients with a history of severe allergic reactions (e.g., anaphylaxis) to beta-lactam antibiotics such as cephalosporins or carbapenems.
  • Inform your doctor if you have kidney impairment, liver disease, glandular fever (infectious mononucleosis), leukemia, or a history of antibiotic-associated colitis before starting treatment.
  • Antibiotic use may lead to overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, including fungi; if superinfection occurs, appropriate therapy should be instituted.
  • Prolonged or repeated use may increase the risk of Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhea; seek medical advice if you develop severe or persistent diarrhea.
  • May interact with other medications such as anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin), allopurinol, probenecid, and some oral contraceptives. Inform your doctor and pharmacist about all medicines you are taking.
  • Consult your doctor before use if pregnant or nursing. Amoxicillin is generally considered when clearly needed, but medical supervision is essential.
  • Consult your doctor before use if you have kidney disease, liver disease, gastrointestinal disease (especially colitis), or are on other long-term medications.
  • Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without proper medical evaluation and prescription.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Use exactly as prescribed. Do not use for viral infections such as common cold or flu.

Side Effects:
  • Common side effects: Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, soft stools, and mild skin rash may occur in some patients.
  • Allergic reactions: Rash, itching, hives, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, and difficulty breathing may indicate an allergic reaction. Stop the medicine and seek immediate medical attention if these occur.
  • Serious side effects (seek urgent medical help): Severe or persistent diarrhea (possibly bloody), severe abdominal cramps, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), unusual bruising or bleeding, dark urine, severe skin reactions, or seizures (rare, usually in patients with kidney impairment or very high doses).
  • If any side effects worsen or you notice any other unusual symptoms, contact your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
