About the product

Iverzine 24 Tablets

Description:

Iverzine 24 Tablets (iverzine 6 mg 24 tabs) is a prescription oral antiparasitic medicine containing ivermectin 6 mg, manufactured by Unipharma. It is used for the treatment of various parasitic infections caused by susceptible worms and ectoparasites. Ivermectin is a broad-spectrum anthelmintic that acts on the nervous system of parasites, leading to paralysis and death. This product is intended for adults and children as directed by a physician and is commonly used in public health and disease prevention programs for parasitic infestations.

Indications:

  • Treatment of strongyloidiasis (intestinal infection caused by Strongyloides stercoralis).
  • Treatment of onchocerciasis (river blindness) caused by Onchocerca volvulus.
  • Treatment of other nematode infections as prescribed by a physician (e.g., some cases of ascariasis, cutaneous larva migrans), according to local guidelines.
  • May be used as part of mass drug administration programs for control of certain parasitic diseases, as per public health protocols.
  • Relief of symptoms related to these infections such as abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, pruritus (itching), skin lesions, and eye irritation associated with onchocerciasis, as the parasite load is reduced.

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Ivermectin – 6 mg per tablet.
  • Excipients: full excipient list and their concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website. Common tablet excipients may include lactose, starches, binders, and lubricants, but exact components are not confirmed.

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Use only as prescribed by a physician. Dosage depends on body weight, type of infection, and local treatment guidelines.
  • For many indications, ivermectin is given as a single oral dose calculated by weight (for example, approximately 150–200 microgram/kg), but the exact regimen must be determined by the doctor.
  • Tablets are usually taken with water on an empty stomach (at least 1 hour before food) unless your doctor advises otherwise.
  • Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; do not crush or chew unless your doctor or pharmacist instructs you to do so.
  • In some infections, a repeat dose may be required after a specified interval (e.g., months for onchocerciasis) as directed by your healthcare provider.
  • Always complete the full prescribed course, even if symptoms improve earlier.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember on the same day. If it is almost time for the next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Effectively kills or paralyzes susceptible parasites, helping to clear parasitic infections from the body.
  • Reduces parasite load in onchocerciasis and other helminth infections, which may help decrease itching, skin lesions, and eye complications.
  • Supports overall health and wellbeing by treating intestinal and tissue parasites that can cause malnutrition, anemia, and chronic gastrointestinal symptoms.
  • Contributes to community and public health parasite control when used in mass treatment programs, helping to reduce transmission in endemic areas.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Use only under medical supervision. Not all parasitic infections are suitable for treatment with ivermectin; your doctor must confirm the diagnosis.
  • Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to ivermectin or any of the tablet components.
  • Use with caution in patients with severe liver impairment; liver function monitoring may be required.
  • Use with caution in patients with significant central nervous system disorders or conditions that may alter the blood–brain barrier.
  • In areas where Loa loa infection is endemic, serious adverse reactions may occur in patients heavily infected with Loa loa microfilariae; careful evaluation and monitoring are required.
  • Consult your doctor before use if pregnant or planning pregnancy. Ivermectin should be used in pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
  • If breastfeeding, consult your doctor before use; small amounts of ivermectin may pass into breast milk.
  • Inform your doctor about all medications you are taking, including other antiparasitic drugs, sedatives, and medicines that affect the liver.
  • May cause dizziness or drowsiness in some patients; avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how the medicine affects you.
  • Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without proper medical evaluation and prescription.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects:
  • Common side effects may include headache, dizziness, fatigue, muscle or joint pain, nausea, diarrhea, and mild abdominal pain.
  • In patients treated for onchocerciasis, reactions related to dying microfilariae (Mazzotti reaction) may occur, such as fever, itching, rash, lymph node swelling, joint or muscle pain, and eye discomfort.
  • Less common side effects can include low blood pressure, rapid heartbeat, swelling of lymph nodes, and transient changes in liver function tests.
  • Serious allergic reactions (rash, severe itching, swelling of face or throat, difficulty breathing) are rare but require immediate medical attention.
  • If you experience severe headache, visual disturbances, confusion, seizures, or any unusual neurological symptoms, stop the medicine and seek urgent medical care.
