About the product

Jardiance 25 Mg 30 Tablets

Description:

Jardiance 25 mg 30 tablets is a prescription oral antidiabetic medicine containing empagliflozin, a sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 (SGLT2) inhibitor. It is used as part of a comprehensive diabetes management plan, together with diet and exercise, to help lower high blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Jardiance 25 mg also helps reduce the risk of cardiovascular death in adults with type 2 diabetes who have established cardiovascular disease. It works by increasing the amount of glucose excreted in the urine, thereby lowering blood glucose and supporting long-term glycemic control.

Indications:

  • Type 2 diabetes mellitus in adults, as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control.
  • Can be used alone (monotherapy) or in combination with other antidiabetic medicines such as metformin, insulin, or other oral agents, as prescribed by a healthcare professional.
  • Reduction of the risk of cardiovascular death in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus and established cardiovascular disease.
  • Helps manage symptoms and complications associated with uncontrolled high blood sugar, such as excessive thirst, frequent urination, and fatigue, as part of an overall treatment plan.
  • Not indicated for type 1 diabetes or for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis.

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Empagliflozin – 25 mg per film-coated tablet.
  • Excipients (tablet core and coating) – include standard pharmaceutical tablet ingredients (exact excipient list and concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website).

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Usual adult dose: 25 mg (one tablet) orally once daily, or as directed by your physician. Some patients may start at 10 mg once daily and be increased to 25 mg based on medical advice; follow your doctor’s specific instructions.
  • Route of administration: Oral use.
  • Jardiance tablets can be taken with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; do not crush or chew.
  • Take the medicine at the same time each day to help maintain consistent blood levels and improve adherence.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember on the same day. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
  • Your doctor may adjust the dose based on kidney function, response to treatment, and concomitant medications.
  • Always use Jardiance as part of a comprehensive diabetes management plan including diet, physical activity, and regular blood glucose monitoring.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Helps lower elevated blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes, supporting better long-term glycemic control.
  • Reduces the risk of cardiovascular death in adults with type 2 diabetes and established cardiovascular disease, when used as prescribed.
  • Promotes urinary glucose excretion by inhibiting SGLT2 in the kidneys, thereby reducing blood glucose independently of insulin secretion.
  • May contribute to modest reductions in body weight and blood pressure in many patients, as observed with SGLT2 inhibitors, as part of an overall treatment plan.
  • Can be combined with other antidiabetic agents (such as metformin or insulin) to enhance glycemic control when monotherapy is insufficient.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Jardiance is a prescription medicine and should only be used under the supervision of a qualified healthcare professional.
  • Contraindicated in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus.
  • Contraindicated in patients with diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) or a history of DKA; it is not suitable for the treatment of DKA.
  • Do not use Jardiance if you have severe kidney problems, significantly reduced kidney function, or if you are on dialysis.
  • Not recommended for children and adolescents under 18 years of age due to insufficient safety and efficacy data.
  • Jardiance should not be used during pregnancy or breast-feeding. If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, consult your doctor for alternative treatment options.
  • Use with caution in patients with a history of urinary tract infections, genital infections, low blood pressure, dehydration, or elderly patients, as the risk of volume depletion and infections may be increased.
  • Inform your doctor if you have kidney or liver disease, low blood pressure, are on diuretics (water tablets), or follow a low-salt diet.
  • There is a risk of ketoacidosis (including euglycemic DKA) with SGLT2 inhibitors. Seek medical attention immediately if you develop symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, excessive tiredness, or difficulty breathing.
  • Consult your doctor before use if you are taking other medications for diabetes, blood pressure, cholesterol, or any chronic condition to avoid interactions and hypoglycemia risk.
  • Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without proper medical supervision.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects:
  • Common side effects may include increased urination, thirst, genital yeast infections (such as vulvovaginal candidiasis in women or balanitis in men), and urinary tract infections.
  • Other possible side effects include low blood pressure (especially in patients on diuretics or with low blood volume), dizziness, and dehydration.
  • Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) is more likely when Jardiance is used together with insulin or insulin secretagogues (such as sulfonylureas); dose adjustment of these agents may be needed.
  • Serious but less common side effects can include diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA), severe urinary tract infections, Fournier’s gangrene (necrotizing fasciitis of the perineum), and acute kidney injury. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience severe pain, fever, swelling, difficulty urinating, or signs of severe infection.
  • Allergic reactions such as rash, itching, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing require urgent medical attention and discontinuation of the medicine.
  • This is not a complete list of side effects. Always read the patient leaflet and consult your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any unusual symptoms.
