Justechol 10 Mg 14 Tablets
Description:
Justechol 10 mg 14 tablets is a prescription lipid-lowering medicine containing rosuvastatin, a potent statin (hmg-coa reductase inhibitor) used to reduce high cholesterol and triglyceride levels. It helps lower low-density lipoprotein (ldl) cholesterol, very low-density lipoprotein (vldl), and triglycerides while modestly increasing high-density lipoprotein (hdl) cholesterol. By improving the blood lipid profile, Justechol 10 mg supports cardiovascular health and helps reduce the risk of atherosclerosis, heart attack, and stroke when used alongside a healthy diet and lifestyle as directed by a physician.
Indications:
- Treatment of primary hypercholesterolemia (high total cholesterol and ldl cholesterol), including familial and non-familial forms, as an adjunct to diet.
- Treatment of mixed dyslipidemia (elevated cholesterol and triglycerides) to improve overall lipid profile.
- Adjunct therapy to diet in patients with hypertriglyceridemia to help lower elevated triglyceride levels.
- Treatment of patients with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, as an adjunct to other lipid-lowering treatments or when such treatments are not available.
- Reduction of cardiovascular risk (such as risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, or need for revascularization) in patients at high risk, as part of comprehensive risk-factor management.
Active Ingredients / Key Components:
- Rosuvastatin calcium – 10 mg per film-coated tablet (equivalent to 10 mg rosuvastatin).
- Other excipients: Film-coating and tablet core excipients (full excipient list and concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website; please refer to the package insert for details).
Dosage & Administration / How to Use:
- Usual adult starting dose: 5–10 mg once daily, adjusted by the physician according to patient response and treatment goals. Justechol 10 mg represents a common starting or maintenance dose for many patients. Always follow your doctor’s exact prescription.
- Maximum dose: Typically up to 40 mg once daily in selected high-risk patients under specialist supervision. Do not exceed the prescribed dose.
- Administration: Take one tablet once daily, at the same time each day, with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water; do not crush or chew.
- Lifestyle measures: Use as an adjunct to a cholesterol-lowering diet, weight control, regular physical activity, and smoking cessation as advised by your healthcare provider.
- Missed dose: If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed tablet.
- Special populations: Dose adjustment may be required in patients with kidney impairment, liver impairment, elderly patients, or those taking interacting medications. Use only under medical supervision.
Clinical Benefits:
- Effectively lowers ldl (“bad”) cholesterol to help slow the progression of atherosclerosis and plaque formation in blood vessels.
- Reduces vldl and triglyceride levels, contributing to a healthier overall lipid profile.
- Modestly increases hdl (“good”) cholesterol, supporting better cardiovascular protection.
- Helps reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events such as heart attack and stroke when combined with lifestyle changes and other risk-factor control.
Warnings & Contraindications:
- Contraindicated in patients with active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevations of serum transaminases.
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to rosuvastatin or any component of the formulation.
- Contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding; statins may harm the fetus or nursing infant. Women of childbearing potential should use effective contraception.
- Use with caution in patients with a history of liver disease, heavy alcohol use, kidney impairment, hypothyroidism, or personal/family history of muscle disorders.
- Risk of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis: Inform your doctor immediately if you experience unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, weakness, or cramps, especially if accompanied by fever or malaise.
- Periodic monitoring of liver function tests and lipid levels is recommended as directed by your physician.
- Drug interactions: Use with caution with other lipid-lowering agents (e.g., fibrates, niacin), certain antivirals, immunosuppressants, or other interacting medicines. Always inform your doctor about all medications and supplements you are taking.
- Consult your doctor before use if pregnant, nursing, taking medications, or have medical conditions such as liver disease, kidney disease, thyroid disorders, diabetes, or muscle disorders.
- Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without medical supervision.
- Keep out of reach of children.
Side Effects:
- Common side effects may include headache, dizziness, abdominal pain, constipation, nausea, or muscle aches. These are usually mild and transient.
- Less common but serious side effects include myopathy, rhabdomyolysis (severe muscle breakdown), and liver enzyme elevations. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice severe muscle pain, dark-colored urine, unusual tiredness, yellowing of the skin or eyes, or severe abdominal pain.
- Allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, difficulty breathing) are rare but require urgent medical care.
- If any side effect persists, worsens, or if you notice any unusual symptoms, contact your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
