Labipress 100 Mg 30 Tablets
Description:
Labipress 100 mg 30 tablets is a prescription antihypertensive medicine containing labetalol, a mixed alpha and beta adrenergic blocker. It is used to lower high blood pressure (hypertension), including pregnancy-induced hypertension, and to manage hypertensive emergencies under medical supervision. By blocking alpha-1, beta-1, and beta-2 receptors, labetalol reduces heart rate, cardiac output and peripheral vascular resistance, helping to achieve better blood pressure control and protect the heart, brain and kidneys from long-term damage.
Indications:
- Treatment of all grades of essential (primary) hypertension in adults.
- Management of secondary hypertension as directed by a physician.
- Control of late-onset pregnancy-induced hypertension (pre-eclampsia–related high blood pressure) under specialist supervision.
- Adjunctive treatment in hypertensive emergencies (oral step-down therapy following parenteral treatment, as directed by a doctor).
- Management of hypertension associated with phaeochromocytoma (under close specialist monitoring).
- Control of blood pressure elevation related to clonidine withdrawal or “cheese reaction” (tyramine-induced hypertensive episodes), as prescribed.
- Reduction of symptoms and risks associated with uncontrolled high blood pressure, such as headache, dizziness, visual disturbances and cardiovascular strain.
Active Ingredients / Key Components:
- Labetalol hydrochloride – 100 mg per film-coated tablet.
- Excipients: film-coating agents, fillers, binders and stabilizers (exact excipient list and concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website; refer to the package insert for full details).
Dosage & Administration / How to Use:
- Labipress 100 mg is for oral use only and must be taken exactly as prescribed by your physician.
- Typical adult starting dose for hypertension (general reference): often initiated at a low dose (for example 100 mg twice daily) and adjusted gradually based on blood pressure response and tolerability. The exact dose, frequency and maximum daily dose must be determined by the treating doctor.
- Tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of water; do not crush, chew or split unless your doctor or pharmacist advises otherwise.
- Can usually be taken with or without food; taking it consistently the same way each day (with food or without) is recommended to maintain stable absorption.
- In pregnancy-induced hypertension and hypertensive emergencies, dosage and treatment duration are strictly individualized and must be supervised by a specialist.
- Do not stop taking Labipress suddenly without medical advice, as abrupt withdrawal may worsen blood pressure or precipitate cardiovascular events.
- If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
Clinical Benefits:
- Effectively lowers elevated blood pressure by reducing peripheral vascular resistance and cardiac output.
- Provides combined alpha-1 and beta-1/beta-2 blockade, offering balanced control of heart rate and vascular tone.
- Helps protect target organs (heart, brain, kidneys and blood vessels) from long-term damage associated with uncontrolled hypertension.
- Useful in managing pregnancy-induced hypertension under specialist care, contributing to maternal cardiovascular stability.
- Helps reduce symptoms related to high blood pressure such as headache, palpitations, and dizziness, improving overall cardiovascular comfort.
Warnings & Contraindications:
- Use only under medical supervision. This is a prescription antihypertensive medicine and is not for self-medication.
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to labetalol or any of the excipients.
- Generally contraindicated in severe bradycardia, second- or third-degree heart block, cardiogenic shock, uncompensated heart failure, severe hypotension and severe asthma or a history of bronchospasm related to beta-blockers.
- Use with caution in patients with diabetes, as beta-blockers may mask signs of hypoglycemia (such as rapid heartbeat).
- Use with caution in patients with peripheral vascular disease, thyroid disorders, liver impairment or chronic respiratory disease.
- Drug interactions: tricyclic antidepressants may increase the incidence of tremor; cimetidine may enhance the bioavailability of labetalol. Inform your doctor about all medicines and supplements you are taking.
- Consult your doctor before use if pregnant or planning pregnancy. Labipress (labetalol) is often used for pregnancy-induced hypertension but must be monitored closely by a specialist. Do not start or stop treatment during pregnancy without medical advice.
- Consult your doctor before use if breastfeeding, as labetalol is excreted in breast milk; risk–benefit assessment is required.
- Avoid driving or operating machinery if you feel dizzy, tired or light-headed after taking this medicine.
- Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without a doctor’s supervision.
- Keep out of reach of children.
Side Effects:
- Common side effects may include dizziness, fatigue, headache, nausea, gastrointestinal discomfort, tingling of the scalp, or mild postural hypotension (drop in blood pressure when standing).
- Less common side effects can include slow heart rate (bradycardia), cold extremities, sleep disturbances, or mild breathing difficulty in susceptible individuals.
- Serious side effects (seek immediate medical attention): severe dizziness or fainting, very slow heartbeat, chest pain, shortness of breath or wheezing, swelling of face or tongue, or signs of severe allergic reaction.
- Inform your doctor promptly if you experience worsening heart failure symptoms (shortness of breath, swelling of legs, sudden weight gain) or any unusual or persistent adverse effects.

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep container tightly closed. Keep out of reach of children.
