About the product

Lipanthyl 300 Mg 30 Capsules

Description:

Lipanthyl 300 mg is a prescription oral lipid-lowering medication containing fenofibrate, a fibric acid derivative used to treat high cholesterol and high triglycerides. It works mainly as a peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha (PPARα) agonist to reduce triglycerides, very low density lipoprotein (VLDL) and low density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, while increasing high density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol. Lipanthyl 300 mg 30 capsules is indicated as part of a comprehensive cardiovascular risk reduction plan that includes diet, exercise, and lifestyle modification in adults with dyslipidemia.

Indications:

  • Treatment of hypertriglyceridemia (elevated blood triglycerides), with or without low HDL cholesterol, in adults.
  • Treatment of mixed hyperlipidemia (combined elevation of LDL cholesterol and triglycerides) when statins are not suitable or as adjunct therapy in selected patients, as directed by a physician.
  • Management of primary hypercholesterolemia or dyslipidemia in patients who require additional triglyceride lowering beyond diet and lifestyle measures.
  • Reduction of cardiovascular risk in dyslipidemic patients when used as part of a complete risk factor management plan (diet, weight control, smoking cessation, blood pressure and glucose control).

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Fenofibrate – 300 mg per capsule.

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Usual adult dose: 1 capsule (300 mg) once daily, or as prescribed by the treating physician.
  • Swallow the capsule whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew.
  • Take with food, preferably with a main meal, to enhance absorption and effectiveness.
  • Use in combination with a low-fat, low-cholesterol diet and regular physical activity. Continue dietary measures throughout treatment.
  • Do not exceed the prescribed dose. Treatment duration and dose adjustments should be determined by periodic lipid profile monitoring and medical evaluation.
  • If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for the next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
  • Not recommended for use in children and adolescents unless specifically directed by a specialist.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Helps significantly lower elevated triglyceride levels, reducing the risk of pancreatitis associated with severe hypertriglyceridemia.
  • Reduces VLDL and LDL ("bad") cholesterol while increasing HDL ("good") cholesterol, supporting healthier lipid balance.
  • Enhances lipoprotein lipase activity and fatty acid oxidation via PPARα activation, improving overall lipid metabolism.
  • Supports long-term cardiovascular risk reduction when used alongside diet, exercise, and other risk factor control.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Contraindicated in patients with severe liver disease, including biliary cirrhosis and persistent unexplained liver function abnormalities.
  • Contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment.
  • Contraindicated in patients with known gallbladder disease or history of gallstones related to fibrate therapy.
  • Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to fenofibrate or any component of the formulation.
  • Use with caution in patients with pre-existing muscle disorders or those at risk of myopathy or rhabdomyolysis, especially if used with statins or other lipid-lowering agents.
  • Monitor liver function tests and renal function periodically during treatment as recommended by your doctor.
  • Consult your doctor before use if pregnant, nursing, taking other medications (especially statins, anticoagulants like warfarin, or immunosuppressants), or have medical conditions such as liver disease, kidney disease, gallbladder disease, thyroid disorders, or diabetes.
  • Not intended to be used without medical supervision. Do not start, stop, or change the dose without consulting your healthcare provider.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects:
  • Common side effects may include abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, indigestion, headache, or mild elevation of liver enzymes.
  • Less common side effects can include muscle pain, muscle weakness, joint pain, rash, or itching.
  • Serious side effects (seek immediate medical attention): severe muscle pain or tenderness, dark-colored urine, unexplained fatigue, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), severe abdominal pain, or signs of an allergic reaction such as swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or difficulty breathing.
  • Report any unusual symptoms or persistent side effects to your doctor promptly.
