About the product

Mavilor 5 Mg 30 Tablets

Description:

Mavilor 5 mg 30 tablets is a prescription antihypertensive medicine containing nebivolol hydrochloride, a third-generation cardioselective beta-1 receptor blocker. It is used to lower high blood pressure and help protect the heart and blood vessels by reducing vascular resistance and improving blood flow. By controlling hypertension, Mavilor helps reduce the risk of serious cardiovascular events such as stroke, heart attack, and heart failure when used as part of a comprehensive blood pressure management plan prescribed by a physician.

Indications:

  • Treatment of essential (primary) hypertension in adults.
  • Helps reduce elevated blood pressure and maintain it within target range as advised by the physician.
  • May be used as monotherapy or in combination with other antihypertensive agents as prescribed.
  • Helps decrease cardiovascular risk associated with long-term uncontrolled high blood pressure (e.g., risk of stroke, myocardial infarction, and other heart complications).

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Nebivolol hydrochloride – 5 mg per tablet (third-generation cardioselective beta-1 receptor antagonist with vasodilatory properties via nitric oxide release)
  • Excipients: Exact list and concentrations of inactive ingredients (such as fillers, binders, and coloring agents) , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website. Refer to the package leaflet for full excipient details.

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Usual adult dose: 5 mg (one tablet) once daily, taken at the same time each day, or as directed by the prescribing physician.
  • Patients above 65 years of age: Recommended to start with 2.5 mg once daily and may be increased to 5 mg once daily based on patient response and physician assessment.
  • Patients with renal impairment: Recommended to start with 2.5 mg once daily and may be increased to 5 mg once daily according to clinical response and medical supervision.
  • Tablets should be swallowed whole with a sufficient amount of water; do not crush or chew unless otherwise advised by your doctor.
  • Mavilor can be taken with or without food; take it consistently in the same way each day (always with food or always without food).
  • Use exactly as prescribed. Do not change the dose or stop taking the medicine abruptly without consulting your physician, as sudden discontinuation may worsen heart or blood pressure conditions.
  • If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you remember on the same day. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Effectively lowers high blood pressure by selectively blocking beta-1 receptors and reducing vascular resistance.
  • Provides vasodilation and improves coronary blood flow through nitric oxide release, which may help improve myocardial ischaemia.
  • Helps protect heart function by lowering arterial blood pressure without significantly depressing left ventricular function in appropriate patients.
  • Contributes to long-term cardiovascular risk reduction when used regularly as part of a comprehensive hypertension management plan (including lifestyle changes and other medications as needed).

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Use only under medical supervision. This is a prescription antihypertensive medicine and should not be used without a doctor’s recommendation.
  • Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to nebivolol hydrochloride or any of the excipients in the formulation.
  • Contraindicated in patients with severe bradycardia (very slow heart rate), cardiogenic shock, acute heart failure, decompensated heart failure requiring intravenous inotropic therapy, or severe peripheral circulatory disturbances unless specifically prescribed and closely monitored by a cardiologist.
  • Use with caution in patients with conduction disorders (e.g., sick sinus syndrome, AV block), history of bronchospasm or asthma, diabetes mellitus, thyroid disorders, or peripheral vascular disease. Dose adjustment and close monitoring may be required.
  • May mask symptoms of hypoglycemia in diabetic patients (such as palpitations and tremor). Diabetic patients should monitor blood glucose regularly.
  • Consult your doctor before use if pregnant or planning pregnancy. Beta-blockers should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed and under strict medical supervision.
  • Consult your doctor before use if breastfeeding, as nebivolol may pass into breast milk; your doctor will decide whether to discontinue breastfeeding or discontinue the medicine.
  • Inform your doctor about all other medicines you are taking, including other antihypertensives, antiarrhythmics, calcium channel blockers, digitalis glycosides, antidepressants, or any over-the-counter products, to avoid potential drug interactions.
  • May cause dizziness or fatigue in some patients. Use caution when driving, operating machinery, or performing tasks requiring alertness until you know how the medicine affects you.
  • Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without appropriate medical evaluation and prescription.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects:
  • Common side effects may include headache, dizziness, fatigue, weakness, tingling or numbness in extremities, gastrointestinal disturbances (such as nausea, constipation, or diarrhea), and mild shortness of breath in susceptible individuals.
  • Cardiovascular side effects may include bradycardia (slow heart rate), hypotension (low blood pressure), and, rarely, worsening of heart failure in predisposed patients.
  • Other possible side effects include sleep disturbances, depression, cold extremities, and skin reactions such as rash or itching.
  • Serious side effects requiring immediate medical attention include severe dizziness or fainting, marked slowing of heart rate, difficulty breathing or wheezing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat (signs of allergic reaction), or sudden worsening of heart symptoms.
  • This is not a complete list of side effects. If you experience any unusual or persistent symptoms, contact your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
