About the product›
Mylobac 25 Mg 20 Tablets
Description:
Mylobac 25 mg 20 tablets is a prescription oral muscle relaxant medicine containing baclofen, a centrally acting antispastic agent. It is primarily used to reduce muscle spasticity and stiffness associated with neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis, spinal cord disorders, and cerebral palsy. By acting on the central nervous system, Mylobac helps improve muscle control, reduce painful spasms, and enhance mobility and daily function in affected patients.
Indications:
- Treatment of muscle spasticity associated with multiple sclerosis.
- Management of spasticity due to spinal cord diseases (degenerative, traumatic, infectious, or of unknown origin, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis).
- Spasticity related to transverse myelitis.
- Spastic spinal paralysis of various causes.
- Muscle spasticity of cerebral origin, such as in cerebral palsy.
- May be used as an adjunct in conditions with severe muscle spasms and rigidity as assessed by a physician.
Active Ingredients / Key Components:
- Baclofen – 25 mg per tablet.
- Excipients (tablet core and coating ingredients such as fillers, binders, and colorants) – specific excipients and their concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website.
Dosage & Administration / How to Use:
- Use only as prescribed by a physician experienced in the management of spasticity.
- Adults: The dose is individualized. Treatment is usually started with a low dose and gradually increased to the lowest effective dose to minimize side effects. Typical total daily doses are divided into 2–3 doses per day. Exact dosing regimen must follow your doctor’s instructions.
- Elderly patients: Dose adjustment and slower titration may be required due to increased sensitivity and risk of side effects.
- Children: Use only if specifically prescribed by a pediatric specialist; dosing is based on body weight and clinical response.
- Tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of water. They can be taken with or after food to help reduce gastrointestinal discomfort, unless your doctor advises otherwise.
- Do not exceed the prescribed dose or change the dosing schedule without consulting your doctor.
- Do not stop taking Mylobac suddenly; the dose should be tapered gradually under medical supervision to avoid withdrawal symptoms (such as increased spasticity, confusion, seizures, or hallucinations).
Clinical Benefits:
- Reduces excessive muscle tone and spasticity, helping to relieve stiffness and tightness in affected muscles.
- Decreases frequency and severity of painful muscle spasms and clonus, improving comfort and rest.
- Enhances mobility and functional ability, supporting better performance of daily activities and physiotherapy.
- Improves overall quality of life in patients with chronic neurological conditions by facilitating easier movement and positioning.
Warnings & Contraindications:
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to baclofen or any of the tablet components.
- Use with extreme caution in patients with a history of epilepsy or seizures; baclofen may lower the seizure threshold.
- Use cautiously in patients with renal impairment, as baclofen is primarily excreted by the kidneys; dose adjustment may be necessary.
- Use with caution in patients with liver disease, psychiatric disorders, or a history of substance abuse.
- May cause drowsiness, dizziness, or blurred vision. Avoid driving, operating machinery, or performing tasks requiring alertness until you know how the medicine affects you.
- Avoid alcohol and other central nervous system depressants while taking Mylobac, as they may increase sedation and other side effects.
- Do not discontinue therapy abruptly; sudden withdrawal may lead to rebound spasticity, agitation, confusion, hallucinations, or seizures.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Use only if clearly needed and prescribed by a doctor after assessing benefits and risks. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding.
- Consult your doctor before use if you have kidney disease, liver disease, epilepsy, psychiatric illness, diabetes, or are taking other medications that act on the central nervous system.
- Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without proper medical supervision.
- Keep out of reach of children.
Side Effects:
- Common side effects may include drowsiness, fatigue, dizziness, weakness, headache, nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, or gastrointestinal discomfort.
- Other possible effects: confusion, insomnia, low blood pressure, increased urination, or muscle hypotonia (excessive muscle relaxation).
- Serious side effects (seek immediate medical attention): difficulty breathing, severe muscle weakness, hallucinations, seizures, severe confusion, allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling of face or tongue, severe dizziness), or signs of overdose such as extreme drowsiness, respiratory depression, or loss of consciousness.
- If you experience any unusual or persistent symptoms, contact your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
