Navoproxin Plus 20 Tablets
Description:
Navoproxin Plus 20 Tablets is an oral prescription-only medicine combining the antihistamine antiemetic meclizine with vitamin B6 (pyridoxine). It is formulated to prevent and relieve nausea, vomiting, dizziness, and vertigo associated with motion sickness, inner ear (labyrinth) disorders, and other balance-related conditions. Navoproxin Plus is suitable for adults and older children as directed by a physician and is commonly used as an antiemetic and antivertigo treatment in travel sickness and vestibular disorders.
Indications:
- Prevention and treatment of nausea and vomiting due to motion sickness (travel sickness by car, sea, or air).
- Relief of dizziness, vertigo, and imbalance associated with vestibular and labyrinth disorders (e.g., Ménière’s disease, labyrinthitis, vestibular neuritis).
- Adjunctive treatment of nausea and vomiting of various causes as assessed by the physician.
- Supportive therapy where vitamin B6 supplementation is desired in patients with recurrent nausea and vomiting.
Active Ingredients / Key Components:
- Meclizine hydrochloride – exact strength per tablet not specified in available data (commonly used as a first-generation H1 antihistamine with antiemetic and antivertigo action).
- Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) – exact strength per tablet not specified in available data (supports normal nervous system function and amino acid metabolism).
Dosage & Administration / How to Use:
- Use only as directed by your physician or pharmacist. Do not exceed the prescribed dose.
- For motion sickness (travel sickness): the usual practice with meclizine-containing products is to take the dose about 1 hour before travel; follow your doctor’s specific instructions for Navoproxin Plus.
- For vertigo and vestibular disorders: dose, frequency, and duration should be determined by the treating physician based on severity and patient response.
- Tablets are to be swallowed whole with a sufficient amount of water. They may be taken with or without food, according to medical advice.
- Do not crush or chew the tablets unless your healthcare provider instructs otherwise.
- If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for the next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
- Do not use in children unless specifically prescribed by a pediatrician.
Clinical Benefits:
- Helps prevent and control nausea and vomiting associated with motion sickness and vestibular disturbances.
- Reduces dizziness and vertigo by decreasing the excitability of the inner ear labyrinth and blocking vestibular pathways.
- Provides antihistaminic and mild anticholinergic effects that contribute to antiemetic and antivertigo action.
- Includes vitamin B6 to support normal nervous system function and amino acid metabolism, which may help in patients with recurrent nausea and general weakness.
Warnings & Contraindications:
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to meclizine, vitamin B6 (pyridoxine), or any of the excipients in the formulation.
- Use with caution in patients with glaucoma, prostatic hypertrophy, urinary retention, or obstructive diseases of the gastrointestinal or urinary tract due to the anticholinergic properties of meclizine.
- Use with caution in patients with severe hepatic or renal impairment; dosage adjustment may be required as determined by the physician.
- May cause drowsiness, blurred vision, or decreased alertness. Avoid driving, operating machinery, or performing tasks requiring full mental alertness until you know how the medicine affects you.
- Avoid concomitant use with other central nervous system depressants (such as alcohol, sedatives, tranquilizers, or strong painkillers) unless advised by your doctor, as additive drowsiness may occur.
- Vitamin B6 in high doses and prolonged use may be associated with sensory neuropathy; do not exceed recommended duration and dose.
- Consult your doctor before use if pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Meclizine and vitamin B6 should be used during pregnancy or lactation only if clearly needed and under medical supervision.
- Consult your doctor before use if you have chronic illnesses such as liver disease, kidney disease, epilepsy, asthma, cardiovascular disease, or if you are taking other prescription or over-the-counter medications.
- Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without proper medical supervision.
- Keep out of reach of children.
Side Effects:
- Common side effects: drowsiness, dry mouth, fatigue, headache, blurred vision, and mild gastrointestinal discomfort (nausea, constipation).
- Less common side effects: dizziness, confusion (especially in elderly patients), difficulty urinating, or palpitations.
- Rare but serious side effects: severe allergic reactions such as rash, itching, swelling of the face, lips, or tongue, severe dizziness, or breathing difficulties. Seek immediate medical attention if these occur.
- If you experience persistent numbness, tingling, or burning sensations in hands or feet (possible sign of vitamin B6-related neuropathy with prolonged high-dose use), contact your doctor promptly.
- Discontinue use and consult your healthcare provider if any side effects are severe, persistent, or concerning.
