Nestacoran 2 Mg 20 Tablets
Description:
Nestacoran 2 mg is a prescription medicine containing eszopiclone, a non-benzodiazepine sedative-hypnotic used for the short-term treatment of insomnia. It acts as a benzodiazepine receptor agonist on GABAA neurons to help you fall asleep faster, reduce nighttime awakenings, and improve overall sleep quality. Each pack contains 20 film-coated tablets manufactured by Hi-Pharm, suitable for adult patients under medical supervision who suffer from difficulty initiating or maintaining sleep.
Indications:
- Treatment of insomnia in adults, including difficulty falling asleep (sleep-onset insomnia).
- Management of insomnia characterized by frequent awakenings during the night or early morning awakening.
- Short-term relief of sleep disturbances that significantly affect daytime functioning, mood, concentration, and performance.
- Adjunct to non-pharmacological and behavioral therapies for insomnia when such measures alone are insufficient.
Active Ingredients / Key Components:
- Eszopiclone – 2 mg per film-coated tablet.
- Excipients (film-coating and tablet core components such as fillers, binders, and colorants) – exact composition and concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website. Please refer to the official package leaflet for full excipient list.
Dosage & Administration / How to Use:
- Adults: The typical recommended dose is 2 mg to 3 mg once daily, taken immediately before bedtime, as prescribed by the physician. Nestacoran 2 mg provides a standard adult starting dose; the doctor may adjust the dose based on response and tolerability.
- Older patients (elderly): Recommended dose is usually 2 mg once daily before bedtime, as higher doses may increase the risk of side effects such as drowsiness and falls.
- Swallow the tablet whole with a sufficient amount of water. Do not crush, chew, or break the film-coated tablet.
- Take just before going to bed, only when you are able to have a full night’s sleep (7–8 hours) before you need to be active again.
- Can be taken with or without food; however, taking it immediately after a heavy or high-fat meal may delay the onset of action.
- Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest possible duration, generally for short-term treatment. Long-term continuous use should only be under close medical supervision.
- If you miss a dose, do not take it if you are not able to stay in bed for a full night’s sleep. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed dose.
- Do not stop the medication abruptly after prolonged use without consulting your doctor, as this may cause rebound insomnia or withdrawal symptoms. The doctor may advise gradual dose reduction.
Clinical Benefits:
- Helps reduce sleep-onset latency, allowing you to fall asleep faster.
- Improves sleep maintenance by decreasing nighttime awakenings and early morning waking.
- Enhances overall sleep quality, leading to more restful and restorative sleep.
- Supports better daytime functioning, including improved alertness, concentration, and mood, by reducing the impact of insomnia.
Warnings & Contraindications:
- Use only under medical supervision. Eszopiclone is a sedative-hypnotic and may cause dependence, tolerance, or abuse if misused.
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to eszopiclone or any of the excipients in the formulation.
- Use with extreme caution in patients with severe hepatic impairment, respiratory insufficiency, sleep apnea syndrome, myasthenia gravis, or history of substance or alcohol abuse.
- May cause next-day drowsiness, impaired alertness, and reduced psychomotor performance. Do not drive, operate machinery, or perform tasks requiring full mental alertness after taking this medicine until you know how it affects you.
- Avoid alcohol and other central nervous system depressants (such as opioids, antipsychotics, strong antihistamines) while using Nestacoran, as they may enhance sedative effects and increase the risk of serious adverse reactions.
- Risk of complex sleep behaviors (e.g., sleepwalking, sleep-driving, preparing and eating food, making phone calls) while not fully awake has been reported with sedative-hypnotics. Discontinue and contact your doctor immediately if such behaviors occur.
- Use with caution in patients with depression, anxiety disorders, or other psychiatric illnesses, as insomnia may be a symptom of underlying conditions. Worsening depression, suicidal thoughts, or behavioral changes require urgent medical attention.
- Not recommended for children or adolescents unless specifically prescribed by a specialist.
- Consult your doctor before use if pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Eszopiclone should be used in pregnancy or lactation only if clearly needed and under strict medical supervision.
- Consult your doctor before use if you have liver disease, kidney disease, respiratory disorders, neurological conditions, or are taking other medications that affect the central nervous system.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without proper medical supervision.
Side Effects:
- Common side effects: Drowsiness, dizziness, headache, unpleasant or metallic taste, dry mouth, fatigue, and difficulty with coordination or concentration.
- Less common side effects: Nausea, abdominal discomfort, blurred vision, confusion, irritability, or mood changes.
- Serious side effects (seek immediate medical attention): Allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling of face or tongue, difficulty breathing), complex sleep behaviors (sleepwalking, sleep-driving), severe drowsiness, hallucinations, agitation, suicidal thoughts, memory disturbances, or unusual changes in behavior.
- If you experience any persistent, bothersome, or severe side effects, stop taking the medication and contact your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
