About the product

NEXICURE 2.5MG 28SACHET

Description:

NEXICURE 2.5 mg 28 sachet is a prescription proton pump inhibitor (PPI) medicine containing esomeprazole, manufactured by Zeta Pharm. It is formulated as oral sachets for the treatment and short-term management of acid-related gastrointestinal disorders such as gastric ulcer and gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD). By reducing gastric acid secretion, NEXICURE helps relieve heartburn, acid regurgitation, and related symptoms, and supports healing of erosive oesophagitis and NSAID-associated gastric ulcers.

Indications:

  • Treatment of gastric ulcer.
  • Treatment and maintenance therapy of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).
  • Treatment of erosive oesophagitis associated with acid reflux.
  • Prevention and treatment of NSAID-associated gastric and duodenal ulceration, in patients at risk who require continued NSAID therapy.
  • Relief of symptoms related to hyperacidity such as heartburn, acid regurgitation, and epigastric pain, as assessed and prescribed by a physician.

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Esomeprazole – 2.5 mg per sachet (proton pump inhibitor, substituted benzimidazole, antiulcer antisecretory drug).
  • Other excipients: Full list of inactive ingredients is not available in the provided data. Please refer to the official package insert for complete excipient information.

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Use only as prescribed by a physician. Dosage, frequency, and duration depend on age, body weight, indication, and severity of disease.
  • General route of administration: oral.
  • Empty the contents of one sachet into a small glass, add a suitable amount of water (as directed in the leaflet), stir gently until dispersed, and take immediately. If any granules remain, add a little more water, swirl, and drink again.
  • Usually taken once daily; in some cases your doctor may recommend twice-daily dosing for a limited period.
  • Can be taken with or without food; however, many PPIs are often recommended to be taken before a meal for optimal effect. Follow your doctor’s specific instructions.
  • Do not chew or crush the granules. Do not mix with other liquids or foods unless instructed by your healthcare provider.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for the next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
  • Do not stop treatment abruptly without medical advice, especially in chronic conditions like GERD.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Effectively reduces gastric acid secretion by irreversible inhibition of the H+ / K+ ATPase proton pump in gastric parietal cells.
  • Promotes healing of gastric and oesophageal mucosa in conditions such as gastric ulcer and erosive oesophagitis.
  • Provides relief from symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease, including heartburn and acid regurgitation.
  • Helps prevent and manage NSAID-associated gastric and duodenal ulcers in at-risk patients who require ongoing NSAID therapy.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to esomeprazole, other substituted benzimidazoles, or any component of the formulation.
  • Use with caution in patients with severe hepatic impairment; dose adjustment and close monitoring may be required.
  • Long-term use of proton pump inhibitors has been associated with increased risk of fractures, vitamin B12 deficiency, hypomagnesemia, and, rarely, Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhea; use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration appropriate.
  • May mask symptoms of gastric malignancy; in the presence of alarm symptoms (e.g., significant weight loss, recurrent vomiting, dysphagia, gastrointestinal bleeding, anemia), malignancy must be excluded before starting therapy.
  • Use with caution in patients with osteoporosis, electrolyte disturbances, or those taking drugs that may interact with esomeprazole (e.g., certain antiretrovirals, warfarin, phenytoin, digoxin, clopidogrel); consult your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Consult your doctor before use if pregnant or nursing; use only if potential benefit justifies potential risk.
  • Consult your doctor before use if you have liver disease, severe kidney impairment, or a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or ulcers.
  • Not intended for self-medication in children unless specifically prescribed by a pediatric specialist.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without medical supervision.

Side Effects:
  • Common side effects may include headache, abdominal pain, constipation, diarrhea, flatulence, nausea, or vomiting.
  • Less common side effects can include rash, pruritus, dizziness, dry mouth, or peripheral edema.
  • Rare but serious adverse effects may include severe allergic reactions (angioedema, anaphylaxis), severe skin reactions, hepatic dysfunction, interstitial nephritis, or severe diarrhea that may indicate Clostridioides difficile infection.
  • Long-term therapy may be associated with hypomagnesemia (symptoms: fatigue, muscle cramps, seizures, arrhythmias), vitamin B12 deficiency, or increased fracture risk.
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or throat, severe skin rash, persistent diarrhea, chest pain, or signs of gastrointestinal bleeding (black stools, vomiting blood).

Storage Instructions:

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep container and sachets tightly closed and in the original packaging to protect from moisture. Do not use after the expiry date stated on the pack. Keep out of reach of children.
