About the product›
Night Calm 3 Mg 20 Tablets
Description:
Night Calm 3 mg tablets are a prescription hypnotic medicine containing eszopiclone, used for the short-term treatment of insomnia and sleep disturbances in adults. Eszopiclone is a non-benzodiazepine sedative-hypnotic that acts on GABAA receptors in the brain to help you fall asleep faster, reduce nighttime awakenings, and improve overall sleep quality and duration. This product is formulated as film-coated tablets for oral use and is intended to be taken immediately before bedtime under medical supervision.
Indications:
- Short-term treatment of insomnia in adults.
- Difficulty falling asleep (sleep-onset insomnia).
- Frequent night-time awakenings and difficulty maintaining sleep.
- Poor sleep quality associated with primary insomnia.
- Adjunct to behavioral therapies and sleep hygiene measures in patients with chronic sleep difficulties, as directed by a physician.
Active Ingredients / Key Components:
- Eszopiclone – 3 mg per film-coated tablet.
- Other inactive ingredients/excipients: Not specified in the available information (For full ingredient information, please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website.) (full excipient list not available).
Dosage & Administration / How to Use:
- Adults: The usual recommended dose is 2 mg to 3 mg once daily, taken immediately before bedtime. Night Calm 3 mg tablets provide the 3 mg strength; your doctor will determine if 3 mg is appropriate for you.
- Older patients (elderly): Typically 2 mg before bedtime is recommended. A 3 mg dose may increase the risk of side effects such as drowsiness and confusion; use only if specifically prescribed.
- Take the tablet orally with a full glass of water, just before going to bed, and only when you can stay in bed for a full night (7–8 hours).
- Can be taken with or without food; however, taking it immediately after a heavy or high-fat meal may delay the onset of effect.
- Do not exceed the prescribed dose and do not take more than one dose in a single night.
- Use for the shortest duration possible, typically a few days to 2 weeks; prolonged use should only occur under close medical supervision.
- Do not abruptly stop long-term use without medical advice, as this may cause rebound insomnia or withdrawal symptoms.
- If you miss a dose, do not take it unless you are still able to have a full night’s sleep (7–8 hours) before you need to be active again. Never double the dose.
Clinical Benefits:
- Helps you fall asleep faster by enhancing GABA-mediated inhibition in the central nervous system.
- Improves sleep maintenance by reducing nighttime awakenings and promoting more continuous sleep.
- Enhances overall sleep quality, leading to better-rested feeling upon awakening when taken as directed.
- Supports short-term management of insomnia while behavioral and lifestyle sleep interventions are implemented.
Warnings & Contraindications:
- Use only under medical supervision. Eszopiclone is a sedative-hypnotic with potential for dependence, abuse, and withdrawal.
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to eszopiclone or any component of the formulation.
- Do not use in patients with severe hepatic impairment unless specifically advised and closely monitored by a physician.
- Use with caution in patients with respiratory disorders such as sleep apnea or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (copd), as sedative-hypnotics may depress respiratory drive.
- May cause next-day drowsiness, impaired alertness, and reduced psychomotor performance. Do not drive, operate machinery, or perform hazardous tasks the day after taking this medicine until you know how it affects you.
- Avoid alcohol and other central nervous system depressants (such as opioids, benzodiazepines, antipsychotics, or strong antihistamines) while using Night Calm, as combined use can increase sedation, respiratory depression, and risk of serious adverse effects.
- Risk of complex sleep behaviors (such as sleep-walking, sleep-driving, or performing other activities while not fully awake) has been reported with sedative-hypnotics. Discontinue and contact your doctor immediately if such behaviors occur.
- Use with caution in patients with a history of drug or alcohol abuse, depression, or other psychiatric disorders; monitor for mood changes, agitation, or suicidal thoughts.
- Consult your doctor before use if pregnant, nursing, taking medications, or have medical conditions such as liver disease, kidney disease, respiratory disorders, depression, or history of substance abuse.
- Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without proper medical evaluation and prescription.
- Keep out of reach of children.
- Do not share this medication with others, even if they have similar symptoms.
Side Effects:
- Common side effects may include drowsiness, dizziness, headache, unpleasant or metallic taste, dry mouth, fatigue, and difficulty with coordination.
- Less common side effects can include memory disturbances, confusion, irritability, vivid dreams, or changes in mood.
- Serious side effects may include allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling of face or tongue, severe dizziness, difficulty breathing), complex sleep behaviors (sleep-walking, sleep-driving), hallucinations, severe confusion, or suicidal thoughts. Seek immediate medical attention if any of these occur.
- If you experience persistent next-day drowsiness, breathing difficulties, chest pain, or any unusual symptoms, contact your healthcare provider promptly.
