Olapex 5 Mg 30 Tablets
Description:
Olapex 5 mg 30 tablets is a prescription antipsychotic medicine containing olanzapine, manufactured by Multi-Apex. It is used for the acute and maintenance treatment of schizophrenia and related psychotic disorders, as well as the acute treatment of manic or mixed episodes associated with bipolar 1 disorder. Olanzapine acts on dopamine (D2) and serotonin (5HT2A) receptors in the brain to help control both positive symptoms (such as hallucinations, delusions, agitation) and negative symptoms (such as social withdrawal, lack of motivation) of schizophrenia. This film-coated tablet is intended for adults and should be used strictly under medical supervision.
Indications:
- Acute treatment of schizophrenia and related psychotic disorders.
- Maintenance treatment of schizophrenia to reduce relapse and stabilize mood and behavior.
- Acute treatment of manic or mixed episodes associated with bipolar 1 disorder.
- Helps reduce symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, disorganized thinking, agitation, hostility, and mood elevation.
- Supports long-term control of psychotic symptoms and mood stabilization as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
Active Ingredients / Key Components:
- Olanzapine – 5 mg per film-coated tablet.
- Other tablet excipients (film-coating agents, fillers, binders, etc.) – exact composition and concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website; please refer to the official package insert for full details.
Dosage & Administration / How to Use:
- Use only as prescribed by a psychiatrist or qualified healthcare professional.
- Typical adult starting dose for schizophrenia or bipolar mania is determined individually by the doctor; 5 mg is usually a low or starting/adjustment dose and may be modified based on clinical response.
- Tablets are taken orally once daily, preferably at the same time each day.
- Can be taken with or without food; swallow the tablet whole with a sufficient amount of water. Do not crush or chew unless advised by your doctor.
- Do not change the dose or stop taking Olapex suddenly without consulting your doctor, as abrupt discontinuation may worsen symptoms or cause withdrawal effects.
- If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for the next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed dose.
- Regular follow-up visits, monitoring of weight, blood sugar, lipids, and other parameters are recommended during treatment.
- Use in children and adolescents should only be under specialist supervision if indicated and approved in local guidelines.
Clinical Benefits:
- Helps control positive symptoms of schizophrenia such as hallucinations, delusions, and disorganized speech or behavior.
- Improves negative symptoms including social withdrawal, reduced emotional expression, and lack of motivation.
- Provides effective acute management of manic or mixed episodes in bipolar 1 disorder, helping reduce elevated mood, irritability, and hyperactivity.
- Supports long-term stabilization and relapse prevention when used as maintenance therapy under medical supervision.
- Acts on both dopamine (D2) and serotonin (5HT2A) receptors, offering a broad antipsychotic effect.
- Once-daily dosing supports better adherence to treatment plans.
Warnings & Contraindications:
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to olanzapine or any component of the formulation.
- Use with extreme caution in elderly patients with dementia-related psychosis; antipsychotic drugs are associated with an increased risk of death in this population.
