About the product

Otal Drops

Description:

Otal Ear Drops 5 ml is a prescription otic medication formulated for the treatment of ear infections and inflammatory ear conditions. It combines an antibiotic, an antiseptic peptide, a potent corticosteroid anti-inflammatory, and a local anesthetic to relieve pain, reduce inflammation, and control bacterial infection in the external ear canal. Otal Drops are intended for topical use in the ear only and are commonly used in acute otitis externa and other inflammatory, painful ear conditions under medical supervision.

Indications:

  • Treatment of acute otitis externa (inflammation and infection of the external ear canal) caused by susceptible bacteria.
  • Relief of ear pain (otalgia) associated with inflammatory or infectious ear conditions, as prescribed by a doctor.
  • Reduction of redness, swelling, and irritation of the external ear canal.
  • Adjunctive therapy in certain external ear infections where combined anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antibacterial action is required, as directed by a healthcare professional.

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Cinchocaine (local anesthetic) – concentration in otal ear drops 5 ml is not specified in the available information (For full ingredient information, please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website.).
  • Dexamethasone (corticosteroid anti-inflammatory) – concentration in otal ear drops 5 ml is not specified in the available information (For full ingredient information, please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website.).
  • Framycetin (aminoglycoside antibiotic) – concentration in otal ear drops 5 ml is not specified in the available information (For full ingredient information, please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website.).
  • Gramicidin (antibacterial peptide) – concentration in otal ear drops 5 ml is not specified in the available information (For full ingredient information, please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website.).

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Use only as directed by your physician or pharmacist. Do not self-medicate or exceed the prescribed duration.
  • Typical adult dosing (if prescribed): usually a few drops instilled into the affected ear(s) several times daily. Exact dose, frequency, and duration must be determined by the treating doctor.
  • Before application, wash hands thoroughly. Warm the bottle in your hand for a few minutes to reduce dizziness that may occur with cold drops.
  • Tilt the head or lie on the side with the affected ear facing upward. Gently pull the outer ear backward and upward (for adults) to straighten the ear canal.
  • Instill the prescribed number of drops into the ear canal without touching the ear with the dropper tip to avoid contamination.
  • Keep the head tilted or remain lying on the side for several minutes to allow the drops to penetrate deeply into the ear canal.
  • Repeat in the other ear only if instructed by your doctor.
  • Do not use in the eyes, on broken skin, or by mouth. For otic (ear) use only.
  • Do not use longer than prescribed. If symptoms persist or worsen, consult your healthcare provider.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Provides rapid relief of ear pain through the local anesthetic action of cinchocaine.
  • Reduces inflammation, redness, and swelling in the external ear canal via the corticosteroid dexamethasone.
  • Helps control and eliminate susceptible bacterial pathogens causing external ear infections through framycetin and gramicidin.
  • Improves patient comfort and supports faster recovery when used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan prescribed by a physician.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Do not use if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to cinchocaine, dexamethasone, framycetin, gramicidin, other aminoglycosides, corticosteroids, local anesthetics, or any of the excipients in the formulation.
  • Contraindicated in patients with known or suspected perforation of the tympanic membrane (eardrum) unless specifically directed by an ear specialist.
  • Do not use in viral or fungal ear infections unless specifically prescribed by a specialist.
  • Avoid contact with the eyes. In case of accidental eye exposure, rinse thoroughly with water and seek medical advice if irritation persists.
  • Prolonged or repeated use may increase the risk of local irritation, superinfection, or steroid-related adverse effects; use only for the duration prescribed.
  • Consult your doctor before use if pregnant, nursing, taking other medications, or have chronic ear conditions, hearing problems, or history of ear surgery.
  • Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without proper medical evaluation and prescription.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Do not share this medication with others, even if they have similar symptoms.

Side Effects:
  • Possible local side effects may include mild burning, stinging, itching, or irritation in the ear canal after application.
  • Allergic reactions (rash, swelling, severe itching, or difficulty breathing) are rare but require immediate medical attention and discontinuation of use.
  • Prolonged use of topical corticosteroids may, in rare cases, contribute to thinning of local tissues or delayed healing.
  • If you experience worsening pain, new discharge, hearing changes, dizziness, or no improvement within the period advised by your doctor, stop using the drops and seek medical advice promptly.
