About the product

Panadol Advance Blue 24 Tablets

Description:

Panadol Advance Blue 24 Tablets is an over-the-counter pain relief and fever-reducing medicine containing paracetamol (acetaminophen) 500 mg per film-coated tablet. It is designed with an advanced formulation for faster absorption compared to standard paracetamol tablets, providing effective relief from mild to moderate pain and helping to reduce high temperature (fever). Suitable for adults and children above the recommended age (see dosage section), Panadol Advance is gentle on the stomach when used as directed and is commonly used for headache, migraine, toothache, period pain, musculoskeletal pain, and flu-related aches.

Indications:

  • Relief of mild to moderate pain such as headache and migraine.
  • Relief of tension headache and sinus headache.
  • Toothache and dental pain, including post-dental procedure pain.
  • Musculoskeletal pain: backache, joint pain, muscle aches, strains, and sprains.
  • Dysmenorrhea (menstrual/period pain).
  • Pain and fever associated with cold and flu.
  • Fever reduction in infectious conditions, as advised by a healthcare professional.
  • Adjunctive use in conditions where pain and/or fever are present, such as sore throat or post-vaccination fever (as directed by a doctor).

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Paracetamol (Acetaminophen) – 500 mg per film-coated tablet.
  • Other excipients (tablet core and coating components such as fillers, binders, and colorants) – exact composition and concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website. Please refer to the product leaflet or outer carton for full excipient list.

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Route of administration: Oral use only. Swallow tablets whole with water; do not chew or crush unless advised by a healthcare professional.
  • Adults and adolescents (over 12 years): 1–2 tablets (500–1000 mg paracetamol) every 4–6 hours as needed.
  • Maximum daily dose for adults: Do not exceed 8 tablets (4000 mg paracetamol) in 24 hours.
  • Children: Use only on medical advice and according to age/weight-appropriate dosing. In many guidelines, paracetamol tablets are generally not recommended for children under 6–12 years depending on ability to swallow tablets; pediatric liquid formulations are preferred. Always follow your doctor’s or pharmacist’s instructions.
  • With or without food: Can be taken with or without food. If you have a sensitive stomach, taking it after food may be preferable.
  • Duration of use: Do not use for more than 3 days for fever or 5 days for pain without medical advice. If symptoms persist, worsen, or new symptoms appear, consult a doctor.
  • Missed dose: If a dose is missed, take it when needed, ensuring at least 4 hours between doses. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed dose.
  • Alcohol: Avoid consuming alcohol while taking paracetamol, especially in chronic or heavy drinkers, due to increased risk of liver damage.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Provides effective analgesic action by raising the pain threshold, helping to relieve mild to moderate pain from various causes (headache, toothache, muscle pain, and more).
  • Offers antipyretic action by acting on the thermoregulatory center in the hypothalamus, helping to reduce fever associated with infections and flu.
  • Advanced formulation allows faster absorption compared with conventional paracetamol tablets, leading to quicker onset of pain relief when taken as directed.
  • Non-narcotic analgesic, making it suitable for regular short-term use under guidance, without the dependency risk associated with opioid painkillers.
  • Generally gentle on the stomach when used at recommended doses, making it a suitable option for patients who cannot tolerate some other analgesics (such as certain NSAIDs), where appropriate.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Do not use if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to paracetamol or any of the other ingredients in the product.
  • Do not exceed the recommended dose. Taking more than the recommended dose may cause serious liver damage, which may require urgent medical attention.
  • Contraindicated in patients with severe hepatic impairment or active severe liver disease.
  • Use with caution in patients with liver disease, chronic alcohol use, malnutrition, or severe kidney impairment. Dose adjustment or medical supervision may be required.
  • Do not take with other products containing paracetamol (acetaminophen) to avoid accidental overdose. Always check labels of cold and flu medicines or combination analgesics.
  • Chronic excessive ingestion of alcohol potentiates the hepatotoxicity of paracetamol; avoid alcohol while using this medicine.
  • Drug interactions: Cholestyramine may reduce absorption of paracetamol; activated charcoal given immediately can reduce absorption; domperidone and metoclopramide may enhance absorption of paracetamol. Inform your doctor or pharmacist about all medicines you are taking.
  • Consult your doctor before use if pregnant or breastfeeding. Paracetamol is generally considered compatible when used at recommended doses, but medical advice is recommended.
  • Consult your doctor before use if you have liver disease, kidney disease, chronic alcohol use, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency, or are taking anticoagulants (e.g., warfarin) or other regular medications.
  • If pain or fever persists for more than the recommended duration, or if symptoms worsen, seek medical advice.
  • Keep out of reach of children. Accidental overdose can be dangerous and requires immediate medical attention, even if the child appears well.
  • Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease beyond its approved indications as an analgesic and antipyretic.

Side Effects:
  • Paracetamol is generally well tolerated at recommended doses. However, side effects can occur.
  • Common or uncommon side effects (usually mild): Nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, or mild gastrointestinal upset.
  • Allergic reactions: Skin rash, itching, urticaria (hives), or swelling. Stop use and seek medical advice if any allergic symptoms occur.
  • Serious but rare side effects: Severe skin reactions (such as Stevens–Johnson syndrome), angioedema, difficulty breathing, or anaphylaxis. Seek emergency medical help immediately if these occur.
  • Liver effects: High doses or prolonged use may cause liver damage, especially in patients with pre-existing liver disease or alcohol misuse. Symptoms may include nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, abdominal pain, dark urine, or yellowing of the skin/eyes (jaundice). Seek urgent medical attention if overdose is suspected, even in the absence of symptoms.
  • If you notice any unexpected side effects or your condition worsens, stop taking the product and consult your doctor or pharmacist.
