Salbovent 30 Tablets
Description:
Salbovent 30 Tablets (salbovent 2 mg 30 tab) is a prescription bronchodilator medicine containing salbutamol, a short-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist (SABA). It is used to relieve and prevent bronchospasm in respiratory conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). By relaxing the smooth muscles of the airways, Salbovent helps open the bronchial passages, making it easier to breathe, reducing wheezing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath. This product is intended for therapeutic use under medical supervision.
Indications:
- Treatment and relief of acute bronchospasm in asthma.
- Prevention of exercise-induced bronchospasm in patients with reversible airway obstruction (as directed by a physician).
- Symptomatic relief of wheezing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath associated with asthma.
- Adjunctive treatment of reversible bronchospasm in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema.
- Relief of reversible airway obstruction in other conditions where bronchospasm is a component, as assessed by a healthcare professional.
Active Ingredients / Key Components:
- Salbutamol (as salbutamol sulfate) – 2 mg per tablet.
- Excipients: The full list of inactive ingredients (excipients, coloring agents, preservatives, etc.) is not available For full ingredient information, please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website. Please refer to the official package insert or manufacturer’s leaflet for complete details.
Dosage & Administration / How to Use:
- Use exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not exceed the recommended dose.
- Typical adult dosing for relief of bronchospasm (oral tablets) is often 2–4 mg salbutamol up to 3–4 times daily, but the exact dose, frequency, and duration must be determined by a physician based on age, severity, and clinical response.
- For adolescents and children, the dose is usually lower and must be strictly individualized by a pediatrician or respiratory specialist.
- Tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of water. They may be taken with or without food, as directed by your doctor. If stomach upset occurs, taking the tablet with food may help.
- Do not crush or chew the tablets unless your doctor specifically advises otherwise.
- If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for the next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
- Do not use Salbovent more frequently than prescribed. Overuse can increase the risk of side effects and may indicate worsening asthma or COPD that requires urgent medical review.
Clinical Benefits:
- Provides rapid bronchodilation by relaxing airway smooth muscles, improving airflow and breathing comfort.
- Helps relieve acute symptoms of asthma such as wheezing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath.
- Assists in the management of reversible bronchospasm in COPD, supporting better exercise tolerance and daily activity.
- May help prevent exercise-induced bronchospasm when used as directed by a healthcare provider.
- Improves mucociliary clearance and may reduce airway microvascular permeability, contributing to better airway function.
Warnings & Contraindications:
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to salbutamol or any component of the formulation.
- Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular diseases such as ischemic heart disease, arrhythmias, hypertension, or heart failure, as beta2-agonists may cause tachycardia and changes in blood pressure.
- Use carefully in patients with hyperthyroidism, diabetes mellitus, or seizure disorders, as salbutamol may exacerbate these conditions.
- High doses or frequent use may lead to hypokalemia (low blood potassium), especially in patients on diuretics, xanthines, or steroids; monitoring of potassium levels may be required.
- Do not use as the sole or main treatment for severe or unstable asthma. If you need Salbovent more often than usual, seek medical advice immediately.
- Consult your doctor before use if pregnant or planning pregnancy. Salbutamol should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
- Consult your doctor before use if breastfeeding, as salbutamol may be excreted in breast milk.
- Consult your doctor before use if you are taking other medications, especially beta-blockers, diuretics, MAO inhibitors, tricyclic antidepressants, or other sympathomimetic agents.
- Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without proper medical supervision.
- Keep out of reach of children.
Side Effects:
- Common side effects may include tremor (shakiness), nervousness, headache, palpitations, increased heart rate (tachycardia), and muscle cramps.
- Other possible side effects: dizziness, flushing, sweating, nausea, or mild chest discomfort.
- Serious side effects (seek immediate medical attention): severe chest pain, marked or irregular heartbeat, severe dizziness or fainting, severe shortness of breath not relieved by the medication, signs of allergic reaction such as rash, itching, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, or difficulty breathing.
- Prolonged or excessive use may increase the risk of hypokalemia (low potassium), which can cause muscle weakness, cramps, or irregular heartbeat.
- If any side effects are persistent, bothersome, or worsening, contact your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
