About the product

Salbovent Forte 20Tab

Description:

Salbovent Forte 20Tab is a prescription bronchodilator medicine containing salbutamol, a short-acting beta2-adrenergic agonist used for the rapid relief and prevention of bronchospasm. It is commonly prescribed for patients with asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (copd), and other conditions associated with reversible airway obstruction. By relaxing the smooth muscles in the airways, Salbovent Forte helps open the bronchial passages, easing breathing, reducing wheezing, and relieving chest tightness. This forte tablet strength is designed for adults and older children as directed by a physician.

Indications:

  • Treatment and prevention of bronchospasm in patients with asthma.
  • Relief of symptoms of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (copd), including chronic bronchitis and emphysema with reversible airway obstruction.
  • Management of exercise-induced bronchospasm (asthma triggered by physical exertion), as directed by a doctor.
  • Relief of acute episodes of wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and cough associated with reversible airway obstruction.
  • Adjunct therapy in other respiratory conditions where reversible bronchospasm is a component, as assessed by a healthcare professional.

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Salbutamol (as salbutamol sulfate) – 4 mg per tablet (information based on product name: SALBOVENT FORTE 4MG 20 TAB)

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Use only as prescribed by your physician. Do not exceed the recommended dose.
  • Typical adult dose (for guidance only – follow your doctor’s instructions): 1 tablet (4 mg) taken 3–4 times daily, with intervals of at least 6 hours between doses. Exact dosing, frequency, and duration must be individualized by the treating physician.
  • Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. It may be taken with or without food. If stomach upset occurs, taking it with food may be helpful.
  • For prevention of exercise-induced bronchospasm, your doctor may advise taking a dose 1.5–2 hours before exercise.
  • In elderly patients or those with increased sensitivity, a lower starting dose may be recommended.
  • Do not crush or chew the tablets unless your doctor specifically instructs you to do so.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for the next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
  • Do not stop taking Salbovent Forte suddenly without medical advice, especially if used regularly for chronic respiratory conditions.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Provides rapid bronchodilation by relaxing airway smooth muscles, helping to open narrowed bronchial passages.
  • Reduces symptoms of asthma and copd such as wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and cough.
  • Helps prevent exercise-induced bronchospasm when taken as directed before physical activity.
  • Improves airflow and lung function, supporting better oxygenation and overall respiratory comfort.
  • May reduce the frequency and severity of acute asthma attacks when used as part of a comprehensive asthma management plan.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to salbutamol or any component of the formulation.
  • Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disorders such as coronary artery disease, arrhythmias, hypertension, or heart failure, as beta2-agonists may cause tachycardia and changes in blood pressure.
  • Use cautiously in patients with hyperthyroidism, diabetes mellitus, seizure disorders, or those prone to hypokalemia.
  • Excessive use may lead to decreased effectiveness (tolerance) and increased side effects, including serious cardiovascular events.
  • If you notice that your usual dose is less effective or you need to use it more frequently, seek medical advice promptly as this may indicate worsening asthma or copd.
  • Consult your doctor before use if pregnant or planning pregnancy. Salbutamol should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk.
  • Consult your doctor before use if breastfeeding, as small amounts of salbutamol may be excreted in breast milk.
  • Inform your doctor about all medications you are taking, especially other bronchodilators, beta-blockers, diuretics, xanthines (such as theophylline), and antidepressants (such as tricyclics or maois).
  • Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without appropriate medical supervision.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects:
  • Common side effects may include tremor (shakiness), nervousness, headache, palpitations, increased heart rate (tachycardia), and mild muscle cramps.
  • Gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, or dry mouth may occur in some patients.
  • Less common side effects can include dizziness, sleep disturbances, sweating, or flushing.
  • Serious side effects (seek immediate medical attention): chest pain, severe or irregular heartbeat, severe dizziness, difficulty breathing that worsens, severe allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling of face/lips/tongue/throat, severe dizziness, trouble breathing).
  • High doses or prolonged use may cause low blood potassium levels (hypokalemia), which can present as muscle weakness, cramps, or irregular heartbeat.
  • If any side effects are severe, persistent, or concerning, stop the medication and consult your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
