About the product›

T4-Thyro 100 Mg 100 Tab

Description:

T4-Thyro 100 mcg 100 tabs is a prescription thyroid hormone replacement medicine containing levothyroxine, a synthetic form of the natural thyroid hormone thyroxine (T4). It is used to treat and manage hypothyroidism and other thyroid hormone deficiency states by restoring normal thyroid hormone levels in the body. By converting to the active metabolite triiodothyronine (T3) in the liver and kidneys, T4-Thyro helps normalize metabolism, energy production, growth, and overall endocrine balance. This product is intended for adults and suitable for long-term maintenance therapy under medical supervision.

Indications:

  • Treatment of hypothyroidism of any cause (primary, secondary, or tertiary), including autoimmune thyroiditis (Hashimoto’s thyroiditis).
  • Management of simple or nodular goiter associated with thyroid hormone deficiency.
  • Adjunct therapy in the management of chronic lymphocytic thyroiditis when thyroid hormone replacement is required.
  • Treatment of severe hypothyroid states such as myxedema coma and stupor (in hospital settings and under strict medical supervision, often in combination with other therapies).
  • Prevention of recurrence of goiter after surgical removal or radioiodine therapy in patients requiring thyroid hormone replacement.
  • Relief of symptoms related to low thyroid hormone levels such as fatigue, weight gain, cold intolerance, constipation, dry skin, hair thinning, and slowed heart rate (when confirmed to be due to hypothyroidism).

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Levothyroxine sodium – 100 mcg per tablet (synthetic thyroxine, T4).
  • Other tablet excipients: full excipient list and concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website. Refer to the package insert for complete details.

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Dosage must always be individualized by a physician based on age, body weight, clinical condition, laboratory results (TSH, free T4), and response to treatment.
  • Usual adult starting dose for hypothyroidism is lower than the full replacement dose and is gradually increased; elderly patients or those with cardiovascular disease require particularly low starting doses and slow titration. Exact dosing schedule should be determined by the treating doctor.
  • Take T4-Thyro once daily on an empty stomach, preferably in the morning, at least 30–60 minutes before breakfast with a full glass of water.
  • Swallow the tablet whole; do not crush or chew unless specifically instructed by your healthcare provider.
  • Take at the same time every day to maintain consistent blood levels.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember on the same day. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue your regular schedule. Do not double the dose.
  • Certain foods and medicines (e.g., iron supplements, calcium supplements, antacids containing aluminum or magnesium, cholestyramine, some multivitamins, and soy-rich foods) can reduce absorption. Take them at least 4 hours apart from T4-Thyro.
  • Regular monitoring of thyroid function tests (TSH, free T4 ± free T3) is required to adjust the dose and ensure proper control.
  • Do not stop taking T4-Thyro suddenly without consulting your doctor, as hypothyroid symptoms may return or worsen.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Restores normal thyroid hormone levels in patients with hypothyroidism, helping to correct hormonal imbalance.
  • Improves energy levels, reduces fatigue, and supports normal metabolic activity and calorie utilization.
  • Helps normalize heart rate, body temperature regulation, and overall cardiovascular and metabolic function.
  • Supports healthy skin, hair, and nail condition that may be affected by low thyroid hormone levels.
  • Assists in reducing goiter size and preventing recurrence of goiter in patients requiring thyroid hormone replacement.
  • Supports normal growth and development in younger patients when prescribed and monitored by a specialist.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Use only under medical supervision. T4-Thyro is a prescription medicine and should not be used for weight loss or obesity in euthyroid (normal thyroid) individuals.
  • Contraindicated in untreated thyrotoxicosis (hyperthyroidism) and in patients with untreated adrenal insufficiency.
  • Use with extreme caution in patients with cardiovascular disease (e.g., ischemic heart disease, angina, arrhythmias, hypertension) and in elderly patients; dose adjustments and close monitoring are essential.
  • Inform your doctor if you have a history of diabetes, adrenal or pituitary disorders, osteoporosis, or any serious chronic illness.
  • Consult your doctor before use if pregnant or nursing. Levothyroxine is usually continued in pregnancy, but dose adjustments based on thyroid function tests are often required.
  • Many medicines can interact with levothyroxine (e.g., antiepileptics, antidepressants, anticoagulants like warfarin, antidiabetic drugs, estrogen-containing contraceptives, iron and calcium supplements). Always inform your healthcare provider about all medicines and supplements you are taking.
  • Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without proper medical evaluation and prescription.
  • Keep out of reach of children to prevent accidental ingestion, which may cause serious harm.
  • If symptoms of hyperthyroidism (e.g., palpitations, chest pain, sweating, tremor, insomnia, unexplained weight loss) appear, contact your doctor promptly; dose adjustment may be required.

Side Effects:
  • When dosed correctly and monitored, levothyroxine is generally well tolerated. Most side effects result from overdosage or sensitivity, leading to symptoms of hyperthyroidism.
  • Common dose-related side effects may include palpitations, rapid heartbeat, nervousness, irritability, anxiety, tremor, headache, heat intolerance, excessive sweating, weight loss despite normal or increased appetite, diarrhea, and difficulty sleeping.
  • Less common effects may include menstrual irregularities, muscle weakness, cramps, and hair thinning (especially at the start of therapy, usually transient).
  • Serious side effects, particularly in patients with heart disease or high doses, may include chest pain, shortness of breath, arrhythmias, or signs of heart attack. Seek immediate medical attention if these occur.
  • Allergic reactions to excipients are rare but possible. Stop use and seek medical help if you experience rash, itching, swelling of the face or throat, severe dizziness, or difficulty breathing.
