About the product

Telfast 120 Mg 20 Tablets

Description:

Telfast 120 mg 20 tablets is a prescription-strength oral antihistamine medicine containing fexofenadine, a second-generation h1 receptor antagonist. It is used for the relief of allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, itchy or watery eyes, and itching associated with seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever), as well as relief of symptoms of chronic idiopathic urticaria (chronic hives). Fexofenadine works by selectively blocking peripheral h1 histamine receptors, helping to control allergic reactions without causing significant drowsiness in most patients.

Indications:

  • Relief of symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever), including sneezing, runny or blocked nose, itchy nose, itchy or watery eyes, and throat irritation.
  • Treatment of symptoms associated with chronic idiopathic urticaria (chronic hives), such as itching and raised, red skin welts.
  • Management of allergy-related nasal and ocular symptoms triggered by pollen, dust, animal dander, or other environmental allergens.

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Fexofenadine hydrochloride – 120 mg per film-coated tablet (equivalent to 120 mg fexofenadine). This is a second-generation h1 antihistamine.
  • Other excipients (such as tablet core and coating agents) are present but detailed composition and concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website. Please refer to the official package leaflet for the full excipient list.

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Adults and adolescents 12 years and older: The usual recommended dose is 1 tablet (120 mg) once daily.
  • Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew.
  • Can be taken with or without food; however, avoid taking with large amounts of grapefruit, orange, or apple juice as they may reduce absorption.
  • Take at the same time each day for consistent symptom control.
  • Do not exceed the recommended dose unless directed by your doctor.
  • Patients with kidney or liver impairment, elderly patients, or those on other medications should consult their doctor for individualized dosing advice.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for the next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Provides effective 24-hour relief from seasonal allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, and itchy or watery eyes.
  • Helps reduce itching and the number and size of hives in chronic idiopathic urticaria.
  • Second-generation antihistamine with low penetration into the brain, associated with minimal drowsiness in most users compared to first-generation antihistamines.
  • Rapid onset of action, typically beginning within 1 hour of administration, supporting better daily comfort and quality of life.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to fexofenadine or any of the excipients in the formulation.
  • Use with caution in patients with kidney impairment, liver impairment, or cardiovascular disease; dose adjustment or medical supervision may be required.
  • Although fexofenadine is generally non-sedating, some individuals may still experience dizziness or drowsiness; avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how the medicine affects you.
  • Avoid taking with large quantities of grapefruit, orange, or apple juice, as these may reduce the absorption and effectiveness of fexofenadine.
  • Consult your doctor before use if pregnant or planning pregnancy. Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed and prescribed by a healthcare professional.
  • Consult your doctor before use if breastfeeding; limited data are available on excretion into breast milk.
  • Inform your doctor or pharmacist about all other medicines you are taking, especially other antihistamines, certain antibiotics (e.g., erythromycin), or antifungals (e.g., ketoconazole), as interactions may occur.
  • Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease beyond the approved indications.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects:
  • Common side effects may include headache, dizziness, nausea, dry mouth, fatigue, or drowsiness. These are usually mild and transient.
  • Less common side effects can include insomnia, nervousness, or gastrointestinal discomfort such as indigestion.
  • Rare but serious allergic reactions (such as rash, swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, severe dizziness, or difficulty breathing) may occur. Stop using the product and seek immediate medical attention if these occur.
  • If any side effects persist, worsen, or you notice any unusual symptoms, contact your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
