About the product

Topmode Tablets

Description:

Topmode Forte 200 mg Tablets are a prescription antipsychotic medicine containing sulpiride, a selective dopamine D2 receptor antagonist. They are used under medical supervision to help manage symptoms of schizophrenia and related psychotic disorders by balancing dopamine activity in the brain. This product is intended for adults and is part of the Health & Wellness – Medication & Treatments segment, specifically antipsychotic drugs.

Indications:

  • Schizophrenia and related psychotic disorders (as diagnosed by a psychiatrist or physician).
  • Management of positive symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, disorganized thinking and behavior (as directed by the doctor).
  • May be used for other indications approved by your physician where sulpiride is considered appropriate.

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Sulpiride – 200 mg per tablet.
  • Excipients: tablet core and coating ingredients (such as fillers, binders, and stabilizers) – exact composition and concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website. Please refer to the official package insert for the full excipient list.

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Use only as prescribed by a physician experienced in the treatment of psychiatric disorders.
  • Typical adult dose and total daily amount depend on the severity of symptoms and individual response; exact dosing regimen must be determined by the treating doctor.
  • Tablets are usually taken orally with a sufficient amount of water, with or without food, at the same time(s) each day to maintain steady blood levels.
  • Do not change the dose, frequency, or duration of treatment without consulting your doctor.
  • If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for the next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
  • Long-term therapy may be required; regular medical follow-up is essential to monitor efficacy, side effects, and the need for dose adjustments.
  • Do not stop taking Topmode Forte suddenly unless your doctor instructs you to do so, as abrupt discontinuation may worsen symptoms.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Helps control core symptoms of schizophrenia by selectively blocking dopamine D2 receptors in the brain.
  • Contributes to improved thinking, behavior, and perception in patients with psychotic disorders, supporting better daily functioning.
  • May reduce the frequency and intensity of hallucinations and delusions when used regularly as prescribed.
  • Supports long-term stabilization and relapse prevention in chronic psychotic conditions when combined with comprehensive medical and psychological care.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Use only under strict medical supervision. Not for self-medication.
  • Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to sulpiride or any component of the formulation.
  • Contraindicated in patients with prolactin-dependent tumors (e.g., pituitary prolactinomas, breast cancer) and in those with pheochromocytoma (based on class warnings for similar agents; confirm with prescribing information).
  • Use with caution in patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, arrhythmias, or those taking medicines that may prolong the QT interval; periodic ECG monitoring may be required.
  • Use with caution in patients with kidney impairment, epilepsy or seizure disorders, Parkinson’s disease, diabetes, or a history of thromboembolic events.
  • Concurrent use with lithium increases the risk of extrapyramidal side effects – close monitoring is required.
  • Concurrent use with antacids or sucralfate may affect sulpiride absorption – separate administration times as advised by your doctor or pharmacist.
  • Efficacy may be reduced by dopamine agonists (e.g., some Parkinson’s medicines); avoid combination unless specifically directed by a specialist.
  • May increase postural hypotension when used with other antihypertensive drugs; monitor blood pressure and stand up slowly to reduce dizziness or fainting.
  • May cause drowsiness or impaired alertness; avoid driving, operating machinery, or performing hazardous tasks until you know how the medicine affects you.
  • Alcohol should be avoided as it may enhance sedative and central nervous system effects.
  • Consult your doctor before use if pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Antipsychotic use in pregnancy and lactation requires careful risk–benefit assessment.
  • Consult your doctor before use if you have liver disease, kidney disease, heart disease, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, diabetes, or any serious medical condition.
  • Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without proper medical supervision.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects:
  • Common side effects may include drowsiness, dizziness, insomnia, agitation, weight changes, dry mouth, constipation, or gastrointestinal discomfort.
  • Extrapyramidal symptoms (movement disorders) such as tremor, rigidity, restlessness (akathisia), or muscle stiffness may occur, especially at higher doses or in combination with lithium.
  • Endocrine effects such as increased prolactin levels may lead to menstrual disturbances, breast enlargement, or galactorrhea (milk secretion).
  • Cardiovascular effects such as low blood pressure (especially on standing), palpitations, or changes in heart rhythm may occur; seek medical advice if you experience chest pain, severe dizziness, or fainting.
  • Allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling, difficulty breathing) are rare but require immediate medical attention.
  • Contact your doctor promptly if you experience high fever, muscle rigidity, confusion, or autonomic instability, as these may be signs of neuroleptic malignant syndrome, a rare but serious reaction.
  • If any side effect is severe, persistent, or concerning, or if you notice any unusual symptoms, seek medical attention immediately.
