About the product

Torseretic Tab 20 Mg 30 Tablets

Description:

Torseretic Tab 20 mg is a prescription cardiovascular medication containing torsemide, a potent loop diuretic used to manage fluid retention and high blood pressure. It is commonly prescribed in conditions such as congestive heart failure, liver cirrhosis, and kidney disease to reduce edema (swelling) and improve breathing and overall cardiac function. By increasing urine output and reducing excess fluid and sodium in the body, Torseretic helps lower blood pressure and relieve symptoms related to fluid overload. This product is intended for adult use under medical supervision.

Indications:

  • Treatment of edema (fluid retention) associated with congestive heart failure (CHF).
  • Management of edema due to chronic kidney disease or renal impairment, as directed by a physician.
  • Edema associated with liver cirrhosis and hepatic disease, under specialist supervision.
  • Adjunctive treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure), usually in combination with other antihypertensive agents.
  • Relief of symptoms related to fluid overload such as swelling of legs and ankles, abdominal distension, and shortness of breath due to pulmonary congestion.

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Torsemide – 20 mg per tablet (loop diuretic of the pyridine-sulfonylurea class).
  • Excipients: Exact excipient composition and concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website. Refer to the package insert for full inactive ingredient list.

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Use only as prescribed by a physician. Dosage is individualized based on the patient’s condition, response, and concurrent medications.
  • Typical adult dose for edema: Often started at 10–20 mg once daily, which may be adjusted by the doctor. For this strength, 20 mg once daily is a common starting dose, but follow your doctor’s exact instructions.
  • Hypertension: May be used as part of a combination regimen; dose and frequency must be determined by the treating physician.
  • Administration: Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. It can be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day.
  • To reduce nighttime urination, it is usually taken in the morning unless your doctor advises otherwise.
  • Do not change the dose, stop, or restart the medication without medical advice.
  • If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for the next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Helps remove excess fluid by increasing urine output, thereby reducing edema in the legs, abdomen, and lungs.
  • Supports better control of blood pressure as part of a comprehensive antihypertensive regimen.
  • Improves symptoms of congestive heart failure such as shortness of breath, fatigue, and swelling by decreasing fluid overload and left ventricular filling pressure.
  • Promotes venous vasodilation and reduces peripheral vascular resistance, contributing to improved cardiac function and relief of pulmonary congestion.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to torsemide, other sulfonylureas, or any component of the formulation.
  • Contraindicated in anuria (inability of the kidneys to produce urine) or severe renal failure where diuretics are ineffective, unless specifically directed by a specialist.
  • Use with caution in patients with severe hepatic impairment, electrolyte imbalance (such as low potassium, sodium, or magnesium), or symptomatic hypotension.
  • May cause significant electrolyte disturbances and dehydration; regular monitoring of serum electrolytes, kidney function, and blood pressure is recommended.
  • Can increase the risk of gout attacks in susceptible individuals due to changes in uric acid levels.
  • May interact with other medications such as other antihypertensives, digoxin, lithium, NSAIDs, and nephrotoxic drugs. Inform your doctor about all medicines and supplements you are taking.
  • Consult your doctor before use if pregnant or planning pregnancy. Use in pregnancy only if clearly needed and prescribed by a physician.
  • Breastfeeding: Safety during lactation is not fully established; consult your healthcare provider before use.
  • Patients with diabetes should monitor blood glucose, as diuretics may affect glycemic control.
  • May cause dizziness or lightheadedness; avoid driving or operating machinery until you know how the medicine affects you.
  • Consult your doctor before use if you have liver disease, kidney disease, diabetes, gout, low blood pressure, or are on a low-salt diet.
  • Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without proper medical supervision.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects:
  • Common side effects: Increased urination, dizziness, headache, fatigue, dry mouth, thirst, mild gastrointestinal upset (nausea, stomach discomfort).
  • Electrolyte disturbances: Low potassium (hypokalemia), low sodium (hyponatremia), low magnesium or calcium, which may cause muscle cramps, weakness, irregular heartbeat, or confusion.
  • Cardiovascular: Low blood pressure (hypotension), especially when standing up quickly (postural hypotension), which may cause fainting or lightheadedness.
  • Metabolic: Possible increase in uric acid (risk of gout), changes in blood glucose, and slight changes in cholesterol or triglyceride levels.
  • Allergic reactions: Rash, itching, swelling, or severe dizziness; very rarely, severe hypersensitivity reactions. Seek immediate medical attention if signs of allergy occur.
  • Serious side effects: Severe dehydration, very low blood pressure, severe electrolyte imbalance, reduced urine output, or signs of kidney dysfunction (such as swelling, fatigue, or changes in urination). Contact your doctor immediately if these occur.
