Toujeo Solostar 300 iu/ml is a long-acting basal insulin analogue containing insulin glargine, supplied in pre-filled Solostar injection pens. It is a prescription antidiabetic medicine used for the once-daily management of high blood sugar (hyperglycaemia) in patients with diabetes mellitus. Indications:

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

• Toujeo is usually injected once daily, at the same time each day, to provide stable 24-hour basal insulin coverage. Your doctor may adjust the timing in special situations.
• Administer by subcutaneous injection only (under the skin) in recommended areas such as the abdomen, thigh, or upper arm. Do not inject into a vein or muscle.
• Rotate injection sites within the same region to reduce the risk of lipodystrophy (thickening or thinning of the skin) and local skin reactions.
• Use the Solostar pen as instructed in the patient leaflet: attach a new sterile needle for each injection, perform a safety test (air shot) if recommended, dial the prescribed dose, inject as shown by your healthcare provider, then remove and safely discard the needle.
• Do not share your insulin pen or needles with anyone, even if the needle is changed, to prevent cross-infection.
• If a dose is missed, follow your doctor’s instructions. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed injection. Monitor blood glucose closely and seek medical advice if unsure.

Warnings & Contraindications:

• Certain medications (e.g., other antidiabetics, beta-blockers, ACE inhibitors, steroids, diuretics, oral contraceptives) can affect blood glucose levels and insulin requirements. Inform your doctor of all medicines you are taking.
• Consult your doctor before use if pregnant, planning pregnancy, or breastfeeding. Insulin requirements often change during pregnancy and after delivery.
• Do not drive or operate machinery if you experience frequent hypoglycaemia or if you have reduced awareness of low blood sugar.

Side Effects:

• Common: Hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar), which may present with sweating, shakiness, hunger, palpitations, headache, dizziness, blurred vision, or confusion. Severe hypoglycaemia can lead to loss of consciousness, seizures, or coma and requires urgent medical attention.
• Local reactions at the injection site such as redness, pain, itching, swelling, or irritation may occur and are usually mild and transient.
• Lipodystrophy (thickening or thinning of the fatty tissue) or cutaneous amyloidosis at injection sites can occur with repeated injections in the same area; rotating injection sites reduces this risk.
• Allergic reactions, including rash, itching, or more rarely severe generalized allergic reactions (anaphylaxis), may occur. Seek immediate medical help if you experience difficulty breathing, swelling of the face or throat, or severe rash.
• Edema (fluid retention, swelling) and temporary vision changes may occur when improving blood glucose control.

Storage Instructions:

Store in a refrigerator (2–8 °c) before first use, protected from direct sunlight and heat. Do not freeze and do not use if the product has been frozen.
