About the product

Vastaflam 50 Mg

Description:

Vastaflam 50 mg is a prescription oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) containing diclofenac potassium, manufactured by EIPICO. It is formulated as sugar-coated tablets designed for rapid pain relief, reduction of inflammation, and lowering of fever. Vastaflam 50 mg is commonly used in the management of musculoskeletal and joint disorders such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, acute gout, and for short-term relief of moderate pain including dental, orthopedic, and gynecological pain such as dysmenorrhea. It works by inhibiting cyclo-oxygenase (COX) enzymes, thereby reducing prostaglandin synthesis, which are key mediators of pain, inflammation, and fever.

Indications:

  • Rheumatoid arthritis – relief of pain, stiffness, and inflammation in affected joints.
  • Ankylosing spondylitis – reduction of spinal and peripheral joint pain and inflammation.
  • Osteoarthritis – symptomatic treatment of pain, swelling, and reduced mobility in degenerative joint disease.
  • Acute gout – short-term relief of acute inflammatory attacks and severe joint pain.
  • Other inflammatory joint disorders – including crystal deposition diseases and other inflammatory conditions of the joints.
  • Post-operative pain and inflammation – particularly after dental and minor orthopedic procedures.
  • Dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation) – relief of menstrual cramps and associated pelvic pain.
  • General moderate pain and inflammation where an NSAID is indicated, as assessed by a healthcare professional.

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Diclofenac potassium – 50 mg per tablet (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, NSAID).
  • Excipients: Includes sugar-coating agents and standard tablet excipients (full excipient list and exact concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website; please refer to the package insert).

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Adults: Typical dose is 50 mg 2–3 times daily, according to physician’s instructions. Do not exceed the maximum daily dose recommended by your doctor.
  • For dysmenorrhea and acute pain: Treatment often starts with 50 mg, then may be repeated as needed, based on medical advice.
  • Swallow the sugar-coated tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew.
  • Can be taken with or after food to help reduce gastrointestinal discomfort, unless your doctor advises otherwise.
  • Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration necessary to control symptoms.
  • Not recommended for children unless specifically prescribed by a pediatric specialist.
  • Always follow your doctor’s dosage instructions and do not self-adjust the dose or duration of treatment.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Provides effective analgesic action for moderate pain associated with arthritis, injury, dental procedures, and menstrual cramps.
  • Reduces inflammation in joints and soft tissues, improving mobility and functional capacity in conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.
  • Offers antipyretic (fever-reducing) effect by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system.
  • Rapid onset of action due to diclofenac potassium salt form, making it suitable for acute pain episodes.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to diclofenac or any other NSAIDs (e.g., aspirin, ibuprofen), or any component of the formulation.
  • Contraindicated in patients with a history of aspirin- or NSAID-induced asthma, urticaria, or allergic-type reactions.
  • Contraindicated in active, suspected, or recurrent peptic ulcer, gastrointestinal bleeding, or perforation.
  • Use with extreme caution in patients with cardiovascular disease, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, diabetes, or those who smoke, due to increased risk of thrombotic events (e.g., heart attack, stroke).
  • Use with caution in patients with renal or hepatic impairment, heart failure, or history of gastrointestinal disease.
  • May increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding, ulceration, and perforation, especially with prolonged use, higher doses, or in elderly patients.
  • May interact with anticoagulants, antiplatelets, other NSAIDs, corticosteroids, certain antihypertensives, diuretics, and some antidepressants; inform your doctor about all medications you are taking.
  • Consult your doctor before use if pregnant, nursing, taking medications, or have medical conditions such as peptic ulcer disease, bleeding disorders, kidney disease, liver disease, heart disease, or uncontrolled hypertension.
  • Use during pregnancy, especially in the third trimester, should be avoided unless clearly needed and directed by a physician.
  • Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease beyond its approved medical indications.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Do not exceed the prescribed dose or duration. If pain or inflammation persists or worsens, seek medical advice.

Side Effects:
  • Common side effects: nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, indigestion, diarrhea, constipation, headache, dizziness, or skin rash.
  • Less common but serious side effects: gastrointestinal bleeding (black or bloody stools, vomiting blood), severe abdominal pain, severe skin reactions, swelling of face or limbs, shortness of breath, chest pain, sudden weakness or difficulty speaking (possible signs of cardiovascular or cerebrovascular events).
  • May cause elevation of liver enzymes or kidney function changes; long-term use requires medical monitoring.
