About the product

Vermizole 6 Tablets

Description:

Vermizole 6 Tablets is a prescription anthelmintic medicine containing albendazole, used to treat a wide range of intestinal and tissue worm infections. Each tablet delivers systemic anti-parasitic action to kill sensitive helminths and help clear parasitic infestations from the body. It is commonly used under medical supervision for tapeworm infections, hydatid cyst disease, neurocysticercosis, and various other nematode and protozoal infections. Vermizole is intended for adults and children as directed by a physician and should always be taken exactly as prescribed for optimal safety and efficacy.

Indications:

  • Treatment of tapeworm infections (taeniasis) as prescribed by a healthcare professional.
  • Hydatid cyst disease (echinococcosis) involving liver, lung, or other organs, as part of a physician-directed regimen.
  • Cysticercosis and neurocysticercosis (larval infection of Taenia solium affecting muscles or central nervous system).
  • Capillariasis (intestinal infection caused by Capillaria species).
  • Cutaneous larva migrans (creeping skin eruption caused by hookworm larvae).
  • Giardiasis (intestinal infection caused by Giardia lamblia), as directed by a doctor.
  • Microsporidiosis, including Septata intestinalis infection, as prescribed by a specialist.
  • Intestinal parasites in immigrants or travelers, according to medical evaluation.
  • Strongyloidiasis (Strongyloides stercoralis infection).
  • Trichinosis (Trichinella spiralis infection).
  • Trichostrongyliasis and other susceptible helminth infections as determined by a physician.

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Albendazole – 200 mg per tablet
  • Excipients: Other inactive ingredients (tablet base, binders, fillers, and preservatives) – detailed excipient list and exact concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website. Refer to the official package insert for full composition.

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Vermizole 6 Tablets must be used exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not self-medicate or change the dose without medical advice.
  • General administration: Take the tablets by mouth with water, preferably with food or a fatty meal to enhance absorption, unless your doctor advises otherwise.
  • Hydatid cyst disease (echinococcosis) – adults ≥ 60 kg (reference regimen): 400 mg albendazole twice daily with meals for 28 days, followed by a 14-day drug-free interval. This 28-day treatment plus 14-day break cycle is usually repeated for a total of 3 cycles. Your doctor will adjust according to your condition and weight.
  • Capillariasis – adults and children ≥ 2 years (reference regimen): 200 mg twice daily for 10 days.
  • Cutaneous larva migrans – adults (reference regimen): 400 mg once daily for 3 days. Children: 5 mg/kg/day for 3 days, as directed by a pediatrician.
  • Giardiasis – adults (reference regimen): 400 mg once daily for 3 days. Pediatric dosing is determined by the doctor based on body weight.
  • Trichinosis – adults (reference regimen): 400 mg twice daily for 15 days.
  • Trichostrongyliasis – adults (reference regimen): 400 mg as a single dose.
  • Dosing for other parasitic infections (e.g., neurocysticercosis, strongyloidiasis, microsporidiosis) is individualized by the treating physician.
  • Swallow the tablet whole; if necessary and approved by your doctor, it may be crushed or chewed, especially in children, and taken with food.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for your next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
  • Do not exceed the prescribed duration of therapy. Regular monitoring (e.g., liver function tests, blood counts) may be required during prolonged treatment.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Provides broad-spectrum anthelmintic activity against many intestinal and tissue-dwelling helminths.
  • Helps eradicate tapeworms, roundworms, and other susceptible parasites, reducing parasite load and associated complications.
  • Supports relief from symptoms of parasitic infections such as abdominal pain, diarrhea, malabsorption, weight loss, and fatigue when used as directed.
  • Contributes to the prevention of serious organ damage in conditions like hydatid disease and neurocysticercosis when part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
  • Convenient oral tablet form facilitates adherence to prescribed treatment regimens for both adults and children (as directed by a doctor).

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Use only under medical supervision. Albendazole is a potent anthelmintic and should not be taken without a doctor’s prescription.
  • Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to albendazole, other benzimidazole derivatives, or any component of the formulation.
  • Use with caution in patients with pre-existing liver disease or impaired liver function; regular liver function monitoring may be required.
  • May cause bone marrow suppression in rare cases; periodic blood counts may be recommended during prolonged or high-dose therapy.
  • Pregnancy: Albendazole is generally not recommended during pregnancy, especially in the first trimester, unless the potential benefit justifies the potential risk and only under strict medical supervision. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.
  • Breastfeeding: Use with caution during lactation; consult your doctor to weigh potential risks and benefits.
  • Women of childbearing potential should use effective contraception during treatment and for a period after completion of therapy as advised by their physician.
  • Use with caution in children; dosing must be carefully adjusted by a pediatrician based on age, weight, and type of infection.
  • Inform your doctor about all other medications, supplements, or herbal products you are taking, especially drugs affecting liver enzymes (e.g., cimetidine, dexamethasone, anticonvulsants), to avoid interactions.
  • If you develop signs of liver problems (persistent nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, dark urine, jaundice) or blood disorders (unusual bruising, infections, fatigue), stop the medicine and seek medical help immediately.
  • Do not use this product for routine deworming without medical advice; treatment choice and duration depend on the specific parasite and clinical status.
  • Consult your doctor before use if pregnant, nursing, taking medications, or have medical conditions such as liver disease, bone marrow disorders, or severe malnutrition.
  • Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without proper medical evaluation and prescription.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects:
  • Common side effects may include headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, diarrhea, and temporary hair thinning. These are usually mild and transient.
  • Other possible effects include fatigue, fever, and elevated liver enzymes on blood tests.
  • Serious but less common side effects: severe allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling of face or throat, difficulty breathing), severe skin reactions, bone marrow suppression (unusual bleeding or bruising, persistent sore throat, infections), or significant liver dysfunction (yellowing of skin/eyes, dark urine, severe abdominal pain).
  • Stop taking the medicine and seek immediate medical attention if you experience signs of a severe allergic reaction, severe skin rash, unexplained bruising or bleeding, persistent high fever, or symptoms of liver problems.
  • Always report any unexpected or persistent side effects to your healthcare provider.
