About the product

Angiosartan 20 Mg 28 Tablets

Description:

Angiosartan 20 mg 28 tablets is a prescription antihypertensive medicine containing olmesartan, an angiotensin ii receptor blocker (arb). It is used for the long-term management of high blood pressure (hypertension) in adults, helping to reduce cardiovascular risk by lowering and controlling blood pressure. By blocking the action of angiotensin ii on at1 receptors, Angiosartan relaxes blood vessels, decreases peripheral resistance, and supports healthy blood pressure levels when used as directed by a physician.

Indications:

  • Treatment of essential hypertension (high blood pressure) in adults.
  • Helps reduce elevated blood pressure to lower the risk of complications such as stroke, heart attack, and kidney damage, as part of an overall cardiovascular risk reduction plan.
  • May be used as monotherapy or in combination with other antihypertensive agents as prescribed by a healthcare professional.

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Olmesartan medoxomil – 20 mg per film-coated tablet.
  • Other excipients (tablet core and film-coating agents) are present but specific composition and concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website. Please refer to the official package insert for the full excipient list.

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Adults: The typical starting dose is 20 mg once daily, taken at approximately the same time each day.
  • Based on blood pressure response, the dose may be increased by the physician up to a maximum of 40 mg once daily.
  • Tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of water; do not crush or chew.
  • Can be taken with or without food, but try to take it consistently in the same way each day.
  • Use exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice, even if you feel well.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for the next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed dose.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Effectively lowers elevated blood pressure by blocking angiotensin ii at at1 receptors, leading to vasodilation and reduced peripheral resistance.
  • Helps protect the cardiovascular system by reducing the risk associated with uncontrolled hypertension, such as heart attack and stroke, when used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
  • Provides 24-hour blood pressure control with once-daily dosing, improving treatment adherence and convenience.
  • Generally well tolerated and can be combined with other antihypertensive classes (such as diuretics or calcium channel blockers) when additional blood pressure control is needed, as directed by a physician.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to olmesartan or any component of the formulation.
  • Contraindicated during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, due to risk of injury and death to the developing fetus. If pregnancy is detected, discontinue Angiosartan as soon as possible.
  • Not recommended during breastfeeding unless clearly needed and only under medical supervision.
  • Use with caution in patients with renal impairment, renal artery stenosis, severe heart failure, or liver impairment; dose adjustment and close monitoring may be required.
  • May cause hypotension, especially in patients who are volume- or salt-depleted (e.g., on high-dose diuretics, low-salt diet, vomiting, or diarrhea). Initiate therapy under medical supervision in such patients.
  • Monitor serum potassium and kidney function, particularly in patients with renal impairment, diabetes, or those taking potassium-sparing diuretics, potassium supplements, or other drugs that increase potassium levels.
  • May interact with other antihypertensive agents, diuretics, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (nsaids), lithium, and other medications. Inform your doctor about all medicines and supplements you are taking.
  • Consult your doctor before use if pregnant, nursing, taking medications, or have medical conditions such as kidney disease, liver disease, heart failure, or electrolyte imbalance.
  • Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without medical supervision; it is a prescription medicine that must be used under a doctor’s guidance.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects:
  • Common side effects may include dizziness, headache, fatigue, gastrointestinal discomfort (such as nausea, abdominal pain, or diarrhea), and upper respiratory tract symptoms.
  • Less common but potentially serious side effects can include marked hypotension (very low blood pressure), kidney function deterioration, hyperkalemia (high potassium levels), and rare hypersensitivity reactions (rash, itching, swelling).
  • Seek immediate medical attention if you experience severe dizziness or fainting, difficulty breathing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, or a sudden decrease in urine output.
  • This is not a complete list of side effects. Always review the patient information leaflet and consult your doctor or pharmacist if you notice any unusual symptoms.
