About the product

Clear Air 10 Mg 14 Tablets

Description:

Clear Air 10 mg 14 tablets is a prescription oral anti-asthma medicine containing montelukast, a leukotriene (cysLT1) receptor antagonist. It helps control and prevent asthma symptoms and allergic airway inflammation by blocking leukotriene-mediated bronchoconstriction and inflammation in the lungs. Clear Air is typically used as maintenance therapy for asthma and allergic airway conditions and is not intended for the relief of acute asthma attacks.

Indications:

  • Long-term management and prophylaxis of chronic asthma in adults and adolescents as prescribed by a physician.
  • Prevention of exercise-induced bronchoconstriction in patients with asthma (as directed by the doctor).
  • Relief and prevention of symptoms associated with allergic airway inflammation mediated by leukotrienes, such as wheezing, chest tightness, and shortness of breath.
  • May be used as add-on therapy in patients with asthma who are not adequately controlled with inhaled corticosteroids (according to physician guidance).

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Montelukast – 10 mg per tablet (leukotriene cysLT1 receptor antagonist, anti-inflammatory, antiasthma).
  • Other tablet excipients: Information on inactive ingredients is not available in the provided data. Please refer to the package insert for the full excipient list.

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Usual adult dose (as commonly prescribed for montelukast 10 mg): 1 tablet (10 mg) once daily, preferably in the evening, or as directed by your physician.
  • Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. It can be taken with or without food.
  • Use regularly every day for long-term control of asthma, even when you have no symptoms, unless your doctor advises otherwise.
  • Do not use Clear Air 10 mg tablets to treat sudden asthma attacks. Always keep a fast-acting (rescue) inhaler available for acute symptoms, as prescribed.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for the next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
  • Follow your doctor’s instructions regarding duration of therapy and any adjustments in dose based on your response and other medications.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Helps prevent asthma attacks by blocking leukotriene-mediated bronchoconstriction and airway inflammation.
  • Improves breathing, reduces wheezing, chest tightness, and night-time asthma symptoms when used regularly.
  • Decreases the need for rescue bronchodilator inhalers in many patients when used as part of a comprehensive asthma management plan.
  • Provides once-daily oral dosing, offering convenient maintenance therapy for long-term asthma control.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Do not use Clear Air 10 mg if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to montelukast or any of the tablet components.
  • Not indicated for the treatment of acute asthma attacks or status asthmaticus. Always use a short-acting bronchodilator inhaler for sudden breathing problems as prescribed.
  • Use with caution in patients with liver impairment; dose adjustment or close monitoring may be required as advised by the physician.
  • Inform your doctor about all medications you are taking, especially barbiturates (such as phenobarbital) and primidone, as they may reduce plasma concentrations of montelukast and decrease its effectiveness.
  • Consult your doctor before use if pregnant or planning pregnancy. Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding should only occur if clearly needed and under medical supervision.
  • Patients should be monitored for changes in mood or behavior, including agitation, anxiety, depression, or suicidal thoughts. Report any unusual psychiatric or neurological symptoms to your doctor immediately.
  • Do not stop or reduce any inhaled or oral corticosteroid treatment abruptly when starting montelukast unless instructed by your doctor.
  • Consult your doctor before use if you have liver disease, severe asthma, or any chronic medical condition.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects:
  • Common side effects may include headache, abdominal pain, indigestion, nausea, diarrhea, or fatigue.
  • Less common side effects can include dizziness, rash, itching, flu-like symptoms, or upper respiratory tract infections.
  • Rare but serious side effects may include allergic reactions (swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat, difficulty breathing), liver function disturbances (yellowing of skin or eyes, dark urine), or neuropsychiatric events (agitation, aggression, anxiety, depression, hallucinations, suicidal thoughts or behavior).
  • In very rare cases, systemic eosinophilia and vasculitis consistent with Churg–Strauss syndrome have been reported in patients taking montelukast, usually associated with reduction of oral corticosteroids. Seek medical attention if you experience worsening asthma, rash, tingling or numbness of limbs, or flu-like symptoms.
  • Stop use and seek immediate medical attention if you experience signs of severe allergic reaction, severe skin reaction, or significant mood or behavior changes.
