About the product

Singulair 10 Mg 14 Tablets

Description:

Singulair 10 mg is a prescription oral medicine containing montelukast, a leukotriene receptor antagonist used for long-term control and prevention of asthma symptoms and relief of seasonal allergic rhinitis. Each film-coated tablet is designed to help reduce inflammation and bronchoconstriction in the airways by blocking the action of leukotrienes, substances in the body that cause narrowing and swelling of the lungs. Singulair 10 mg 14 tablets is suitable for adults and adolescents as directed by a healthcare professional and is used as maintenance therapy, not for immediate relief of acute asthma attacks.

Indications:

  • Prophylaxis and chronic treatment of asthma in adults and adolescents (15 years and older; age indication may vary by country – follow local prescribing information).
  • Prevention of exercise-induced bronchoconstriction (EIB) in patients where a leukotriene receptor antagonist is considered appropriate (as per physician’s advice).
  • Relief of symptoms of seasonal allergic rhinitis (such as sneezing, nasal congestion, runny nose, and itchy nose) in patients with asthma where montelukast is indicated for asthma.
  • Helps reduce frequency of daytime and nighttime asthma symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, chest tightness, and cough when used regularly as prescribed.

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Montelukast sodium equivalent to montelukast 10 mg per film-coated tablet.
  • Inactive ingredients/excipients (such as tablet core and coating components) are present but specific excipient list and concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website. Refer to the official package leaflet for full excipient details.

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Usual dose for adults and adolescents (typically 15 years and older, depending on local labeling): one 10 mg tablet once daily.
  • For asthma: Take the 10 mg tablet once daily in the evening or as directed by your doctor. Use regularly every day, even when you have no symptoms, for optimal control.
  • For seasonal allergic rhinitis (when prescribed): Take once daily at the time of day your doctor recommends. It may be taken with or without food.
  • For exercise-induced bronchoconstriction (when indicated by your doctor): follow your doctor’s specific instructions; do not take extra doses beyond the prescribed daily dose.
  • Swallow the tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not exceed the recommended dose.
  • If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for the next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed dose.
  • Use as part of a comprehensive asthma management plan. Do not stop or change your asthma medications without consulting your doctor.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Helps prevent asthma attacks by blocking leukotriene-mediated bronchoconstriction and airway inflammation.
  • Reduces daytime and nighttime asthma symptoms such as wheezing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness when used regularly.
  • Improves lung function and breathing comfort, supporting better exercise tolerance in patients with asthma.
  • Provides additional relief of seasonal allergic rhinitis symptoms in patients where asthma and allergies coexist, contributing to improved overall respiratory comfort and quality of life.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to montelukast or any component of the formulation.
  • Not indicated for the treatment of acute asthma attacks or sudden episodes of breathlessness. Always keep a fast-acting rescue inhaler available as prescribed by your doctor.
  • Use with caution in patients with hepatic impairment; consult your doctor for dose recommendations and monitoring.
  • Neuropsychiatric events (including agitation, aggression, anxiety, depression, sleep disturbances, hallucinations, suicidal thoughts and behavior) have been reported. Inform your doctor immediately if you or your child experience any unusual changes in mood or behavior.
  • Do not abruptly substitute Singulair for inhaled or oral corticosteroids. Any change in steroid therapy must be done gradually under medical supervision.
  • Drug interactions: Phenobarbital and other strong enzyme inducers (e.g., some anticonvulsants like primidone) may reduce plasma concentrations of montelukast and decrease its effect. Inform your doctor about all medicines you are taking.
  • Consult your doctor before use if pregnant or planning pregnancy. Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only if clearly needed and prescribed by a healthcare professional.
  • Consult your doctor before use if you have liver disease or other chronic medical conditions, or if you are taking other asthma or allergy medications.
  • Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without proper medical supervision. Use only as prescribed.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects:
  • Common side effects may include headache, abdominal pain, thirst, and mild gastrointestinal discomfort.
  • Other reported side effects can include dizziness, fatigue, rash, and upper respiratory tract infections.
  • Neuropsychiatric side effects such as agitation, irritability, anxiety, sleep disturbances (including nightmares), depression, or suicidal thoughts and behavior have been reported. Seek medical attention immediately if these occur.
  • Serious hypersensitivity reactions (including anaphylaxis, angioedema, rash, and itching) are rare but require urgent medical attention.
  • Churg–Strauss syndrome (a rare eosinophilic vasculitis) has been associated with asthma treatment changes; report symptoms such as rash, worsening pulmonary symptoms, cardiac complications, or neuropathy to your doctor.
  • If you experience persistent or severe side effects, or any symptom that worries you, stop taking the medicine and contact your healthcare provider promptly.
