About the product

Tritace 2.5 Mg 14 Tablets

Description:

Tritace 2.5 mg 14 tablets is a prescription antihypertensive medicine containing ramipril, an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor. It is used to lower high blood pressure, protect the heart and blood vessels, and reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in at-risk patients. By relaxing blood vessels and reducing the workload on the heart, Tritace helps control blood pressure and supports long-term heart and kidney health under medical supervision.

Indications:

  • Treatment of essential hypertension (high blood pressure) in adults.
  • Reduction of cardiovascular risk (e.g., heart attack, stroke) in patients with increased cardiovascular risk such as documented coronary heart disease, previous stroke, or peripheral arterial disease (as determined by the physician).
  • Treatment of symptomatic heart failure, particularly systolic heart failure, as part of standard therapy to improve symptoms and reduce mortality.
  • Management of patients with left ventricular dysfunction following an acute myocardial infarction (heart attack), as prescribed by a cardiologist.
  • Renal protection in certain patients with hypertension and/or diabetes who are at risk of kidney damage (as assessed by the treating physician).

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Ramipril – 2.5 mg per tablet (angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor).
  • Other inactive ingredients (excipients) are present in the tablet core and coating; detailed excipient list and their concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website. Please refer to the official package leaflet for full excipient details.

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Tritace 2.5 mg tablets must be used exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Do not change the dose or stop treatment without medical advice.
  • Usual starting dose for hypertension (adults): often 1.25 mg to 2.5 mg once daily, which may be adjusted gradually by the physician based on blood pressure response. The 2.5 mg strength is commonly used as a starting or intermediate dose.
  • For heart failure or post–myocardial infarction: therapy is initiated at a low dose and titrated slowly under close medical supervision; the exact regimen is determined individually by the cardiologist.
  • Take the tablet once daily at the same time each day, with or without food, with a glass of water. Swallow whole; do not crush unless your doctor or pharmacist advises otherwise.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember on the same day. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
  • Regular monitoring of blood pressure, kidney function, and serum potassium is recommended during treatment, especially at the start of therapy and after dose changes.
  • Use in elderly patients or those with kidney impairment may require lower starting doses and slower dose titration, strictly under medical supervision.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Effectively lowers both systolic and diastolic blood pressure by relaxing and dilating blood vessels.
  • Reduces total peripheral resistance and decreases afterload and preload, helping the heart pump more efficiently in patients with heart failure.
  • Helps protect the heart and blood vessels, lowering the risk of heart attack, stroke, and other cardiovascular complications in high-risk patients.
  • Supports kidney protection in certain hypertensive or diabetic patients by improving renal hemodynamics (as evaluated by the physician).
  • Maintains renal, cerebral, and coronary blood flow while reducing blood pressure, contributing to overall cardiovascular stability.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Do not use Tritace (ramipril) if you are allergic to ramipril, any other ACE inhibitor, or any of the excipients in the product.
  • Contraindicated in patients with a history of angioedema (swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat) associated with previous ACE inhibitor therapy or hereditary/idiopathic angioedema.
  • Contraindicated during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy. ACE inhibitors should generally be avoided in pregnancy; inform your doctor immediately if you become pregnant while taking Tritace.
  • Not recommended during breastfeeding unless specifically advised by a doctor who will weigh risks and benefits.
  • Use with caution in patients with kidney impairment, renal artery stenosis, liver disease, heart failure, dehydration, or those on diuretics or other antihypertensives.
  • May cause significant drops in blood pressure, especially after the first dose or dose increases, particularly in volume-depleted patients (e.g., due to diuretics, low-salt diet, vomiting, or diarrhea).
  • Hyperkalemia (high potassium levels) may occur, especially in patients with kidney disease, diabetes, or those taking potassium supplements, potassium-sparing diuretics, or other drugs that increase potassium. Regular blood tests may be required.
  • Inform your doctor about all medicines you are taking, including diuretics, potassium supplements, ARBs, NSAIDs, lithium, and other blood pressure medications, to avoid interactions.
  • Consult your doctor before use if pregnant, nursing, taking medications, or have medical conditions such as kidney disease, liver disease, heart failure, diabetes, or electrolyte imbalance.
  • May cause dizziness or lightheadedness; use caution when driving or operating machinery until you know how the medicine affects you.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without proper medical supervision and prescription.

Side Effects:
  • Common side effects: dizziness, headache, fatigue, low blood pressure (hypotension), dry persistent cough, nausea, or gastrointestinal discomfort.
  • Less common side effects: rash, itching, taste disturbances, muscle cramps, or elevated potassium levels (hyperkalemia) detected in blood tests.
  • Serious side effects (seek immediate medical attention): signs of angioedema such as swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat; difficulty breathing or swallowing; severe dizziness or fainting; sudden decrease in urine output; jaundice (yellowing of skin or eyes); or severe abdominal pain.
  • If you experience any unusual or bothersome symptoms, contact your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
