About the product

Tritace Comp 14 Tablets

Description:

Tritace Comp 14 Tablets is a prescription antihypertensive medicine used for the treatment and long-term control of high blood pressure (hypertension). It belongs to the class of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors and contains the active ingredient ramipril, which helps relax blood vessels, reduce blood pressure, and protect the heart and kidneys. This product is typically used in adults as part of a comprehensive cardiovascular risk reduction plan that may include lifestyle changes and other medications. It is manufactured by Sanofi and supplied in tablet form for oral use.

Indications:

  • Treatment of essential hypertension (high blood pressure) in adults.
  • Reduction of cardiovascular risk in hypertensive patients at risk of heart attack or stroke (as part of overall medical management, if prescribed by a doctor).
  • May be used in patients with hypertension and associated cardiovascular disease or risk factors, as directed by a healthcare professional.
  • Helps lower both systolic and diastolic blood pressure, thereby reducing strain on the heart and blood vessels.

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Ramipril – 5 mg per tablet (ace inhibitor antihypertensive).
  • Other inactive ingredients (excipients) are present to form the tablet; detailed excipient list and their concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website.

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Use only as prescribed by a physician. Do not self-medicate or adjust the dose without medical advice.
  • Typical adult dose for hypertension: the dose and frequency are individualized; a common starting dose for ramipril is usually 2.5–5 mg once daily, which may be adjusted by the doctor based on blood pressure response and tolerance. For this strength (5 mg), your doctor will decide if you should take 1 tablet once daily or as otherwise indicated.
  • Swallow the tablet whole with a sufficient amount of water. Do not crush or chew unless your doctor or pharmacist advises otherwise.
  • Can usually be taken with or without food; try to take it at the same time each day to maintain consistent blood levels.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for the next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
  • Regular blood pressure monitoring and periodic kidney function and electrolyte tests (especially potassium) are recommended during treatment.
  • Duration of therapy is long term in most patients and should not be stopped abruptly without consulting your doctor.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Effectively lowers high blood pressure by inhibiting the conversion of angiotensin i to angiotensin ii, leading to vasodilation and reduced vascular resistance.
  • Reduces both preload and afterload on the heart, which can improve cardiac output in patients with coexisting heart failure when prescribed as part of standard therapy.
  • Helps decrease aldosterone secretion, thereby reducing sodium and water retention, which contributes to blood pressure control.
  • May help protect kidney function in hypertensive patients when used under medical supervision, by improving renal hemodynamics.
  • Contributes to overall cardiovascular risk reduction, potentially lowering the risk of complications such as stroke, heart attack, and progression of hypertensive organ damage when used consistently as prescribed.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to ramipril, any other ace inhibitor, or any of the excipients.
  • Contraindicated in history of angioedema (hereditary, idiopathic, or previous angioedema with ace inhibitors).
  • Contraindicated during the second and third trimesters of pregnancy; use in the first trimester is not recommended. If pregnancy is planned or confirmed, consult your doctor immediately to switch to a safer alternative.
  • Contraindicated in patients with significant bilateral renal artery stenosis or stenosis of the artery to a single functioning kidney, unless strictly supervised by a specialist.
  • Use with caution in patients with renal impairment, hepatic impairment, dehydration, heart failure, collagen vascular diseases, or those on diuretics, potassium supplements, or potassium-sparing diuretics.
  • May cause symptomatic hypotension, especially after the first dose or dose increase, particularly in volume-depleted or salt-depleted patients.
  • May increase serum potassium levels (hyperkalemia); monitor potassium especially in patients with kidney disease, diabetes, or those taking potassium-sparing drugs.
  • Avoid concomitant use with aliskiren in patients with diabetes or renal impairment, and use caution with angiotensin ii receptor blockers (dual blockade of the renin-angiotensin system).
  • Consult your doctor before use if pregnant, nursing, taking other medications (such as diuretics, nsaids, lithium, potassium supplements), or have medical conditions including kidney disease, liver disease, heart failure, diabetes, or vascular disease.
  • Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without proper medical supervision; it is a prescription medicine that must be used under a doctor’s guidance.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Do not drive or operate machinery if you feel dizzy, lightheaded, or fatigued after taking this medicine.

Side Effects:
  • Common side effects may include dizziness, headache, fatigue, dry cough, nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, or low blood pressure (hypotension).
  • Less common side effects can include rash, itching, changes in taste, muscle cramps, or elevated potassium levels.
  • Serious side effects (seek immediate medical attention) include angioedema (swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat), severe dizziness or fainting, difficulty breathing, chest pain, marked decrease in urine output, jaundice (yellowing of skin or eyes), or signs of severe allergic reaction.
  • If you experience persistent cough, unusual swelling, severe abdominal pain, or any other worrying symptom, contact your doctor promptly.
