Nevilob 2.5 Mg 14 Tablets
Description:
Nevilob 2.5 mg 14 tablets is a prescription antihypertensive medicine containing nebivolol hydrochloride, a third-generation cardioselective beta-1 receptor blocker. It is primarily used to lower high blood pressure (hypertension) and support cardiovascular health by reducing heart rate, decreasing vascular resistance, and improving blood flow. Nevilob 2.5 mg is particularly suitable as a starting dose in elderly patients or patients requiring a lower strength of nebivolol, and should be used under medical supervision.
Indications:
- Treatment of essential (primary) hypertension in adults.
- Helps reduce elevated blood pressure to lower the risk of cardiovascular events such as stroke and heart attack (as part of an overall treatment plan prescribed by a physician).
- May be used as monotherapy or in combination with other antihypertensive agents as directed by the doctor.
- Particularly useful as an initial low-dose option in patients above 65 years of age or those requiring gradual dose titration.
Active Ingredients / Key Components:
- Nebivolol hydrochloride – 2.5 mg per tablet (exact excipients and their concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website).
Dosage & Administration / How to Use:
- Use Nevilob 2.5 mg only as prescribed by your physician. Do not change the dose or stop the medicine without medical advice.
- Typical adult dose for hypertension (general reference for nebivolol): 5 mg once daily. The 2.5 mg strength is often used as a starting dose in specific patients or for dose adjustment as determined by the doctor.
- Elderly patients (above 65 years): Recommended to start with 2.5 mg once daily and may be increased to 5 mg once daily based on patient response and tolerability, as directed by the physician.
- Renal impairment: Treatment is usually initiated with 2.5 mg once daily and may be increased to 5 mg once daily according to clinical response and medical supervision.
- Tablets are usually taken once daily at the same time each day, with or without food, swallowed whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew unless your doctor or pharmacist advises otherwise.
- If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember on the same day. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.
- Duration of treatment is long-term and depends on your blood pressure control and doctor’s recommendation. Do not stop taking Nevilob suddenly, especially if you have heart disease; your doctor may need to taper the dose gradually.
Clinical Benefits:
- Helps effectively lower high blood pressure, contributing to long-term cardiovascular protection when used as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.
- Cardioselective beta-1 blockade reduces heart rate and myocardial oxygen demand without significantly depressing left ventricular function at therapeutic doses.
- Reduces peripheral vascular resistance and promotes vasodilation, partly through nitric oxide release, improving blood flow and arterial function.
- May improve coronary blood flow and myocardial ischaemia by causing coronary vasodilatation, supporting heart health in hypertensive patients.
Warnings & Contraindications:
- Use only under medical supervision. Not suitable for self-medication.
- Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to nebivolol or any component of the formulation.
- Generally contraindicated in severe bradycardia, second or third degree heart block (without a pacemaker), sick sinus syndrome, cardiogenic shock, decompensated heart failure, severe peripheral circulatory disorders, and untreated pheochromocytoma, unless specifically directed by a cardiologist.
- Use with caution in patients with diabetes, as beta-blockers may mask symptoms of hypoglycemia (such as rapid heartbeat).
- Use with caution in patients with bronchospastic diseases (e.g., asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), peripheral vascular disease, thyroid disorders, or severe renal or hepatic impairment.
- May interact with other antihypertensives, antiarrhythmics, calcium channel blockers (such as verapamil or diltiazem), digoxin, certain antidepressants, and other medications. Inform your doctor and pharmacist about all medicines and supplements you are taking.
- Consult your doctor before use if pregnant or planning pregnancy. Nebivolol should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed and under strict medical supervision.
- Consult your doctor before use if you are breastfeeding; safety during lactation is not fully established and your doctor will weigh potential risks and benefits.
- May cause dizziness or fatigue in some patients. Avoid driving, operating machinery, or performing tasks requiring alertness until you know how the medicine affects you.
- Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without medical supervision.
- Keep out of reach of children.
Side Effects:
- Common side effects may include headache, dizziness, fatigue, weakness, slow heart rate (bradycardia), and gastrointestinal discomfort such as nausea or stomach pain.
- Some patients may experience cold hands and feet, sleep disturbances, or mild shortness of breath, especially in those with underlying respiratory conditions.
- Less common but serious side effects may include severe bradycardia, worsening heart failure symptoms (such as increasing shortness of breath, swelling of legs or ankles, rapid weight gain), severe dizziness or fainting, or bronchospasm in susceptible individuals.
- Allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling of face or throat, severe dizziness, difficulty breathing) are rare but require immediate medical attention.
- If you experience chest pain, marked slowing of the heartbeat, severe shortness of breath, or any worrying or persistent side effects, stop the medication and seek urgent medical advice.
