About the product

Tareg 160 Mg 14 Capsules

Description:

Tareg 160 mg is a prescription antihypertensive medicine containing valsartan, an angiotensin ii receptor blocker (arb) used to lower high blood pressure and protect the heart and blood vessels. It works by blocking the effects of angiotensin ii at the at1 receptor, leading to vasodilation, reduced peripheral resistance, and decreased blood pressure in hypertensive patients. Tareg 160 mg film-coated tablets are intended for adult use under medical supervision as part of long-term cardiovascular risk management.

Indications:

  • Treatment of essential hypertension (high blood pressure) in adults.
  • Helps reduce the risk of complications related to uncontrolled high blood pressure, such as stroke, heart attack, and kidney damage (as part of an overall treatment plan prescribed by a doctor).
  • May be used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents, as directed by a physician.

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Valsartan – 160 mg per film-coated tablet.
  • Excipients (film-coating and tablet core ingredients such as fillers, binders, and colorants) – exact composition and concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website; please refer to the official package leaflet for full excipient list.

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Usual adult dose for hypertension: 80 mg to 160 mg once daily, as prescribed by the physician. Tareg 160 mg is typically taken once daily; your doctor may adjust the dose based on blood pressure response.
  • Swallow the film-coated tablet whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew.
  • Can be taken with or without food; however, take it at the same time each day to maintain consistent blood levels.
  • Always follow your doctor’s dosing instructions. Do not change the dose or stop taking the medicine without medical advice, even if you feel well.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember unless it is almost time for the next dose. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Effectively lowers elevated blood pressure by reducing peripheral vascular resistance.
  • Blocks the actions of angiotensin ii, helping to prevent vasoconstriction and excessive salt and water retention.
  • Reduces aldosterone and adrenaline release, supporting better blood pressure control and cardiovascular protection.
  • Helps decrease long-term risk of hypertension-related complications when used regularly as part of a comprehensive treatment plan.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to valsartan or any of the excipients.
  • Contraindicated during pregnancy, especially in the second and third trimesters, due to risk of fetal injury and death. If pregnancy is detected, discontinue valsartan as soon as possible.
  • Not recommended during breastfeeding unless specifically advised by a doctor.
  • Contraindicated in patients with severe hepatic impairment, biliary cirrhosis, or cholestasis, unless otherwise directed by a specialist.
  • Use with caution in patients with renal impairment, renal artery stenosis, or a history of kidney disease; regular monitoring of kidney function and serum potassium is recommended.
  • Concomitant use with potassium-sparing diuretics (e.g. spironolactone, triamterene, amiloride), potassium supplements, or salt substitutes containing potassium may increase the risk of hyperkalaemia and, in heart failure patients, may increase serum creatinine. Such combinations require close medical supervision.
  • Use with caution in patients with dehydration, volume depletion, or those on high-dose diuretics, as symptomatic hypotension may occur.
  • May interact with other antihypertensive agents, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (nsaids), and certain other medicines; inform your doctor about all medications you are taking.
  • Consult your doctor before use if pregnant, nursing, taking medications, or have medical conditions such as kidney disease, liver disease, heart failure, or electrolyte imbalance.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects:
  • Common side effects may include dizziness, headache, fatigue, low blood pressure (hypotension), and elevated potassium levels (hyperkalaemia).
  • Less common side effects can include kidney function changes, abdominal pain, nausea, or cough.
  • Serious side effects (seek immediate medical attention): signs of severe hypotension (fainting, severe dizziness), swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat (angioedema), difficulty breathing, or marked decrease in urine output.
  • If you experience any unusual or persistent symptoms, contact your doctor or pharmacist promptly.

Storage Instructions:

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep container tightly closed in the original blister pack to protect from moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
