About the product

Cholerose 5 Mg 14 Tablets

Description:

Cholerose 5 mg 14 tablets is a prescription lipid-lowering medication containing rosuvastatin, a potent statin (hmg-coa reductase inhibitor) used to reduce high cholesterol and triglyceride levels. It helps lower low density lipoprotein (ldl) cholesterol, total cholesterol, and very low density lipoprotein (vldl), while modestly increasing high density lipoprotein (hdl) cholesterol. Cholerose is indicated as part of a comprehensive cardiovascular risk reduction plan that includes a cholesterol-lowering diet, exercise, and lifestyle modification, and is suitable for adults requiring medical management of dyslipidemia and prevention of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease.

Indications:

  • Treatment of primary hypercholesterolemia (including heterozygous familial and non-familial hypercholesterolemia) in adults, as an adjunct to diet.
  • Treatment of mixed dyslipidemia (elevated ldl, total cholesterol, triglycerides with low hdl) as part of lipid management.
  • Adjunctive therapy to diet for patients with hypertriglyceridemia.
  • Management of patients with existing cardiovascular risk factors (such as diabetes, hypertension, smoking, or family history of premature coronary heart disease) to reduce the risk associated with high cholesterol levels.
  • Secondary prevention of cardiovascular events in patients with established atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease when rosuvastatin is prescribed by a physician.

Active Ingredients / Key Components:

  • Rosuvastatin calcium – 5 mg per film-coated tablet (exact salt form and excipient concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website).
  • Other inactive ingredients (excipients, film-coating agents, stabilizers) are present but specific names and concentrations , please check the product leaflet or the manufacturer’s official website.

Dosage & Administration / How to Use:

  • Usual starting dose for adults is typically 5 mg to 10 mg once daily, as directed by the prescribing physician. Cholerose 5 mg is commonly used as an initial or low-dose regimen, especially in patients at risk of adverse effects or requiring gradual titration.
  • Take the tablet once daily, at the same time each day, with or without food, swallowed whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or split the film-coated tablet.
  • Dose may be adjusted by the doctor at intervals of at least 4 weeks based on lipid profile response and tolerability. Do not change the dose or stop the medication without medical advice.
  • Use as an adjunct to a standard cholesterol-lowering diet, weight control, regular physical activity, and smoking cessation. Continue dietary and lifestyle measures throughout treatment.
  • If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember on the same day. If it is almost time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose to make up for a missed one.
  • Patients with kidney or liver impairment, elderly patients, or those taking interacting medications may require lower starting doses and careful monitoring, strictly as determined by the physician.

Clinical Benefits:

  • Effectively lowers ldl ("bad") cholesterol and total cholesterol, helping reduce plaque buildup in arteries and supporting cardiovascular health.
  • Reduces vldl and triglyceride levels, contributing to improved overall lipid profile and decreased risk of pancreatitis associated with severe hypertriglyceridemia.
  • Modestly increases hdl ("good") cholesterol, supporting better cholesterol balance and heart protection.
  • Helps slow the progression of atherosclerosis and supports long-term prevention of heart attack, stroke, and other cardiovascular events when used as part of a comprehensive risk reduction plan.

Warnings & Contraindications:

  • Contraindicated in patients with active liver disease or unexplained persistent elevations of serum transaminases.
  • Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity or allergy to rosuvastatin or any component of the formulation.
  • Contraindicated during pregnancy and breastfeeding, as statins may harm the fetus or nursing infant. Women of childbearing potential should use effective contraception.
  • Use with caution in patients with a history of liver disease, heavy alcohol use, kidney impairment, hypothyroidism, or muscle disorders, as these conditions may increase the risk of muscle-related side effects.
  • Risk of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis: inform your doctor immediately if you experience unexplained muscle pain, tenderness, weakness, or cramps, especially if accompanied by fever or malaise.
  • Periodic monitoring of liver function tests and, when indicated, creatine kinase (ck) levels may be recommended by the physician.
  • Certain medications (e.g., some antivirals, fibrates, niacin at lipid-lowering doses, ciclosporin, and others) may increase rosuvastatin levels and the risk of side effects; always inform your doctor of all medicines and supplements you are taking.
  • Consult your doctor before use if pregnant, nursing, taking medications, or have medical conditions such as liver disease, kidney disease, thyroid disorders, diabetes, or a history of muscle problems.
  • Not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease without medical supervision.
  • Keep out of reach of children.

Side Effects:
  • Common side effects may include headache, dizziness, abdominal pain, constipation, nausea, or muscle pain and weakness. These are usually mild and transient.
  • Less common side effects can include rash, itching, joint pain, or elevated liver enzymes on blood tests.
  • Serious but rare side effects include severe muscle problems (myopathy, rhabdomyolysis) with or without kidney damage, and severe liver injury. Seek immediate medical attention if you experience dark urine, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), severe muscle pain, unexplained fatigue, or difficulty breathing.
  • If any side effects persist, worsen, or if you notice any unusual symptoms, contact your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
